"[When] young players get a
taste of what real men's
volleyball is like, they'll
realize it's not backyard
barbecue volleyball. It's a
completely different sport
than what a lot of people
imagine — it's fast, dynamic,
and explosive."

Men’s Volleyball @ the Next Level: There are over 90 NCAA & NAIA programs throughout the country including 23 Division I programs which offer competitive men’s volleyball, and several colleges compete in College Club Programs. In 2010, UNLV played in the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation as a part of the Mountain West Volleyball Conference. NCAA Division I Men’s Volleyball programs are distributed into three major conferences across the nation: Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) represents the
West Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA)
represents the Midwest Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA)
represents the East Division II, Division III and NAIA schools also participate in conference games leading to NCAA championship titles. In addition to college volleyball, competitive volleyball is played on the international level. The U.S. National Volleyball Teams represent the United States throughout the world every year in competitions such as the Summer Olympic Games, FIVB World League, FIVB World Grand Prix and many others. The Future of Men’s Volleyball: Division III Men’s Volleyball and College Club programs are flourishing. The number of boys playing volleyball at the club & high school level has increased steadily due to the success of USA Men’s National Team. UCLA men’s head volleyball coach John Speraw says, “The talent level has increased. More boys are playing every year. It’s pretty significant. Every single year more and more boys are playing. More states are sponsoring state championships.”
