Listening Strategies: Taking lecture notes
1) Listen for “ topic ” words, e.g. endangered, species,
decrease. These words are usually stressed and the facts
are often repeated, e.g. rare, few, extinct.
2) List your main points using numbers or an asterisk (*).
This makes your notes easier to read when you look at
them later. 3) Don’t try to write down everything; select important
information. 4) Use abbreviations and your own shorthand (see
the example below).
