Step:

a. Pre- Listening

1. Show pictures of sale advertisements – pupils compare the prices of items before and after discount (Appendix 1) 2. Pupils discuss their answers.

b. While-listening

1. Pupils listen twice to the listening scripts. (Appendix 2) 2. Pupils listen to advertisement again and complete the tasksheet given (Appendix 3). 3. Teacher discusses answers with pupils.

c. Post-listening

1. Teacher puts up dialogue between a housewife and a vegetable seller. 2. Teacher highlights the sentence structures used: a. How much is this ...? b. Can you give me a cheaper price/ reduce the price? c. I’m sorry I can’t/ All right, I will give you a discount of … 3. Pupils get into groups. 4. Divide pupils into the role of buyer and seller based on stimulus given (Appendix 4). 5. Pupils come up with a dialogue between buyer and seller.

d. Closure 1. Teacher goes through jazz chant with pupils (Appendix 5) 2. Teacher highlights the importance of spending money wisely.
