- PSHE Association offer a very comprehensive scheme of work based on teaching
Primary and Secondary children about the importance of Mental Health.

- The Feelin' Good Day lesson plans are a series of four lesson plans which look at
promoting resilience and identifying positive coping strategies. This can be used
with Primary or Secondary aged children (See attached PDF)
- The MindEd programme is funded by the Department of Health and developed and written by experts in child and mental health. - The Mentality Action Sheets are great for using with the younger age groups. These lesson plans and resources help the children discuss their feelings in a safe and positive way. (see attached PDF)
Promoting positive Mental Health at lunchtime. - The ‘Feel Good Factor’ games provide your school’s play leader with a range of
games they can play at break or lunch time in which positive mental health is
promoted – see attached PDF

Healthy Body Image - Ofsted good practice example from Oak Cottage Primary School offers a detailed
action plan as well as lesson plans for all ages based on promoting a healthy body

- The Dove Confident Me workshops address key topics including social media, peer
pressure and strategies for promoting and protecting body confidence. There are 5
lesson plans suitable for Year 5 and 6 pupils.

- Dove also offer resources and planning for a single Body Confidence workshop which
focuses on topics including social media, peer pressure and strategies for promoting
and protecting body confidence. Student learning is facilitated through class

- Always have a range of resources and videos that challenge gender stereotypes. The

- People like me equips teachers with materials that can show girls that jobs in
Science, technology; Engineering and Maths (STEM) are available and open to them.
This resources help break the stereotype that these types of jobs are for ‘boys only.’

- The NUT has developed a range of resources that challenge gender stereotypes.
They outline their initial project in ‘Breaking the Mould’ and outline practical
strategies for challenging gender stereotypes in the classroom in ‘Boys and Girls
Things’ The evidence base for this approach can be found in the
document ‘Stereotypes Stop You Doing Stuff.

- ‘Challenging Gender Stereotypes and Discrimination’ is a very useful resource pack
which enables children to explore their own identity and encourages children to
celebrate similarities and differences between one another.
Bereavement and Loss: - Grief encounter have developed a children’s workbook which helps adults guide
children through the process of grief.

- Coping with Crisis outlines how teachers and adults can help a child through grief.
There is some very practical advice and support for teachers who have children
experiencing grief in their classroom.

- The Elephants Tea Party was developed by Child Bereavement UK. Once you sign up
they will send your school a bereavement and loss resource pack to use as and when
you need to with your children.
- SABN has developed a list of resources to use with young people who are bereaved.
They have split the resources into sub-headings so you can chose the resource most
suited to your need.
- Grief Encounter have also developed a list of books which are helpful for children
who are experiencing loss or bereavement.
Stress and anxiety - Young Minds have developed a pack for teachers and pupils to help cope with the
stress of school.

- Stress reduction activities - This pack contains activities for teachers and pupils to
use to help manage stress and anxiety.

- This is again a Public Health England document which guides teachers through a
whole school approach to developing and promoting young people’s emotional health

possible strategies for coping with anxiety
Healthy Relationships - North Somerset Council have developed a series of lesson plans and activities aimed
at KS1 and KS2 pupils that deal with healthy relationships, consent, secret and
