What Challenges Will Your City Face?

Key challenges in Westminster:

• Existing infrastructure

• 8,000 approximate lights citywide

• 28 different lighting and pole types

• Third-party Utility

• 3 different owners (2 utilities and Westminster)

• No energy efficient option provided by the

utilities for street lighting

• No existing rate structure for street lights

• Lack of available staff time to evaluate and implement

• Extreme temperatures

A Phased Approach to Efficient Street Lighting

• We installed 4 LED streetlight demonstration sites

• Based on results from demo sites:

• Installed LEDs for all new streetlights

• Planning to install LEDs on streetlights owned by the city
