The most recent display in the north Lobby (flag poleentrance) features Shrine Fezzes. Several are old embroi-dered fezzes with no jewels and others are rather ornate withmany jewels. A young boy of about 10 years of age was inthe museum a couple of years ago and he questioned whysome had jewels and others did not. I wonder how manyolder people would be that observant. Our answer was theembroidered fezzes were older ones in our collection.

Did you notice the white fez? Yes, that is a scimitar incorpo-rated into the design. Members of the “Ladies OrientalShrine of North America” wear the white fez. The LOSNA isnot an auxiliary of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles ofthe Mystic Shrine. It is a separate and distinct Order. Theorganization was formed in 1903 in Wheeling, WV. Whilethere is not a LOSNA court in Wisconsin, there are membersliving within the state.

We would like to remind you again of the informal MasonicStudy/Discussion group that meets on the fourth Tuesday inthe Masonic museum. Please feel free to attend. Topics aretaken from the monthly “Short Talk Bulletin”.

It has been a year filled withgrowth and learning for all of us, and it makes me very proud to be a partof such a wonderful Lodge, as noted in the Masonic Journal we should beespecially proud of our commitment to the ritual as shown by our partici-pation in the degree competition each year.

I would like to give a special thanks to the members of all of the otherLodges in the area that have stopped in to visit us and or participate in ourwork in this wonderful gentle craft we call Freemasonry. I am grateful to beable to travel and always be in the company of brothers and fellows thathave traveled the same path as I have, and to follow in the footsteps ofsome of the greatest men in history.

So may we ever meet, act, and part my brothers, and remember to alwayssupport our youth as they are our future and our support of them will in turnbe rewarded by their support of us. Rainbow, DeMolay, and Jobies are ourcharges, support them in any way available to you.
