Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s Urs One Year After His PassingWhat sorrow can express our feelings one year later, refl ecting on the passing of our master, Sultan al-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani an-Naqshbandi ar-Rabbani?He was, and he is, the light of our eyes, our beloved father, our source of light and guidance, our beacon in the darkest night. When all hope is lost, Mawlana Shaykh’s shining face and beaming smile bring us back and give us life and restore us to balance.Allah said, “verily the Friends of Allah, they do not fear nor do they grieve.” It is us, those left behind aft er they pass, who grieve. But we remain steadfast on what Mawlana Shaykh brought and taught all these long years: to keep with out Lord Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad and to keep our heart connection alive.

Oh Mawlana Shaykh! Our hearts weep for your presence!Oh Sultan of our life! Tears are not suffi cient to express our sad-ness!Oh Master of the Time! We long for the day when we will see you again!Oh Saint of Saints! You have gone forward to clear for us the Straight Path, keep holding us by the hand!Oh Light of Prophet Muhammad! How we long for your shining face!

Keep us O our master, in your prayers from beyond this earthly life. Watch over us in our daily life and intercede for us before the Tremendous King. Beg forgiveness for these your weak and sinful students.

Allah’s Endless Mercy OceansMawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-HaqqaniOur Grandsheikh was speaking to me on the mercy of Allah Almighty: “Oh my son, up to where may we hope for the mercy of Allah? No limit. Don’t give up your hope of His mercy.” All dirty waters run into the sea, but does the sea become dirty – no, and what is the size of our sins beside Allah’s Mercy Oceans? On the night of his Mi‘raj, the Prophet ÿ was with Archangel Gabriel ¡ passing through the Seven Heavens when he saw a big door and asked for the key. “It is in your hands – la ilaha illa Allah Muhammadan rasulallah.” He opened, seeing there endless oceans with one tree growing, and in that tree one bird, and in his beak a piece of mud. Gabriel said: “Th is is one of Allah’s endless Mercy Oceans, the tree represents the Universe, the bird is your nation, and the piece of mud is the sins of your nation.” What is the comparison of these sins with Mercy Oceans? It amounts to nothing.

It is a very happy moment to say that everything in this world is built on love. If there is not love there is nothing. Every-thing lives because of love. When animals love each other there is a fruit of that love. When human beings love each other, there is a fruit of that love. I tried to buy one cherry tree and they told me I need two. Is that not correct? Th ey told me, “You must buy two.” “No, I want just one.” “Yes, but you need a male and a female, if they are not near each other, they will not produce fruit.” If love is made the focal point of the world, everything in the world can be balanced. Everything in this world comes from love. To have a balanced life you must have love. Also in religion you must have love.Jews loved Moses ¡; they followed him. Christians loved Jesus ¡; they followed him. Muslims loved Muhammad ÿ, they followed him. Th is is our belief. By love we build communities. We build ourselves, by love we build our eternal life.Without love we create confusion. We create wars, we create fi ghts, we create violence. And for what? For 60-70 years, we live and then pass on. Our Lord did not send us to fi ght. We are not taking anything with us. We leave it all behind. Th ey put you in a coffi n, close it, and put you in the grave. What is left behind aft er that? If people loved you, during your life, that is for you - they pray for you. If they did not like you, they talk bad about you. Th ere are two ways with no third way.Th ere are only two ways. If you love those who are good, you succeed. If you love those who follow negativity, you lose.In every religion there are those followers who are good and those who are not. And we hope these bad ones will one day move towards goodness, in order that we can live a happy life in this world. May God bless you and grant you from Divine Love.

Th is is the fi rst edition of what we hope will be a long string of publications, based on the teachings of the Most Distinguished Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya Sufi Order, as taught to us by our blessed masters in this way. Our intention, as with Th e Muslim Magazine before, is to present the beauty of Islam, the mercy of Islam, the reality of Islam, as taught by Prophet Muhammad, upon whom be Allah’s blessings and peace, and by his Successors, spiritual and physical, who came aft er him, lighting the Path of Allah’s Love.Please pray for our success in this endeavor to bring Mawlana Shaykh’s teachings to the world.

Th e Prophet ÿ was ashamed to ask for anything that night because of Allah’s saying: “I am giving My Mercy Oceans for your nation. I am not in need of these oceans.” We must be ashamed also. He is facing us with endless mercy and we are facing Him with bad actions instead of goodness and thanks. Th erefore, on the Last Day so many people will wish for the Earth to swallow them up, to be non-existent. Allah likes servants to hope for His Mercy.

Th e Az-Zahra Ensemble is a nasheed group that is dedicated to spreading the love of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad through salawats. Th ey are comprised of seven Muslim women who have committed several years to learning var-ious styles of drumming and salawats.Led by Shaykh Hisham Kabba-ni’s daughter, Sajeda, the group has become world-renowned, traveling to many international venues to perform. Recently az-Zahra has been invited by the Morroccan government to perform at the Festival of Sufi Culture in Fez in May 2015. 6. Heat sugar and 3 cups water in a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-high and continue boiling, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes, until mixture thick-ens to the consistency of syrup. Mix in the lemon juice. 7. Mix in cut oranges chunks. Return to a boil, uncov-ered, on high heat. Reduce heat to medium-high and continue boiling. Boil for 20 minutes, or until soupy. 8. While boiling, combine juice and fruit pectin: Re-move ¾ cup of the “juice” the orange chunks are coking in. Mix juice and fruit pectin powder in a small bowl. Set aside.9. Remove orange pieces from pot with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl. Continue boiling juices for 20 min-utes, until thickened. 10. Mix pectin and juice mixture into pot. Turn off the heat.11. Go to Jam Sealing Instructions at end of chapter on Jams in Secrets of Heavenly Foods.Makes 3 16-ounce jars marmalade.

Ingredients3 pounds seedless oranges (about 3 large oranges)

Note: large oranges are better because they have a thicker peel.

3 cups water6 cups sugar4 ½ tablespoons lemon juice1.75 ounce box fruit pectin 3 16-ounce canning jars

Answer:Wa`alaykumussalam,You have to follow your country’s dates. For fasting, you may do so for Mondays, Th ursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and the three White Days of the 13th, 14th and 15th.[see sunnah.org “Specialties of the Month of Rajab” for more information.]

Preparation1. Scrape off outer part of the orange peel with the fi ne side of a grater (or a small serrated knife) and discard. Leave bottom layer of peel on the oranges.

Note: Don’t scrape all the way down to white part of the orange; the outer part of the oranges should be light orange.

2. Rinse oranges. 3. Bring water to a boil in a medium pot on high heat. Place scraped oranges in the water. Return to a boil. Boil oranges for 10 minutes, or until soft ened. 4. Strain oranges and let cool under cold water. Pour out water used to boil oranges. 5. Cut oranges into very thin, 1/2 -inch pieces. Th row away orange seeds (if any).
