*This period will correspond to the period indicated on the visa in the case of non-Commonwealth tourists. For Commonwealth tourists, the period should be 3 months ( extendable to a further period of 3 months) *A foreign Tourists means any person who is not a citizen of India, who is not normally resident in India and who enters India for a stay of not less than 24 hours and not more than 6 months in the course of 12 months period for legitimate non-immigrant purposes such as touring, recreation, sports, holiday, Family reason, study, religious pilgrimages or business.

CONDITIONS TO BE OBSERVED BY THE LIQUOR PERMIT HOLDER IN AREARS WHERE PROHOBITION IS IN FORCE 1.The permit authorises the holder to buy, possess, transport, use and consume bottled liquor while touring any part of India where prohibition is in force, provided that the rules of the State/Union Territory allow the use of this permit and that his/her continued stay is any single State/Union Territory is not more than 30 days at a time. 2.The Permit holder shall not use liquor except for personal consumption or where permitted by the prohibition laws of the State, for entertaining persons holding liquor permits.

3.Whenever permissible under the prohibition rules in force in that State/Union Territory, the quantity of liquor that may be possessed and /or consumed under this permit shall not exceed two units* at any time or six units in aggregate during a month. 4.Liquor shall not be obtained except from an authorised dealer or hotel. The permit holder shall produce the permit before such dealer or hotel who shall endorse such dealer or hotel who shall endorse the permit indicating the particulars and quantity of liquor issued and the date of such issue 5.The permit shall accompany the whole or any part of the stock of liquor held under the permit to any place where such stock is removed from the residence of the permit holder. 6.The permit holder shall not use or consume liquor in a public place. 7.The permit is subject to the prohibition laws of the various States/Union Territories and is liable to be cancelled or suspended in accordance with those laws. On such cancellation or suspension, the permit holder shall surrender the whole of the unconsumed stock of liquor forthwith to the authorities concerned. * One Unit: 1 bottle of spirits; or 3 bottles of wines; or 9 bottles of fermented liquors of a strength exceeding 2 per cent of alcohol by volume; or 27 bottles of fermented liquors of a strength not exceeding 2 per cent of alcohol by volume(“bottle” holds one quart or two pints) N.B. Tourists can bring either one regular size bottle of wine and one quarter litre of spirits free of customs duty at the time of arrival in India.
