LithSafe™ offers a comprehensive set of fire management services that

include trainings, Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP)

development, and emergency response and business continuity

planning that gives our clients a strong sense of security. Our clients

realize that solid emergency preparation may reduce insurance rates,

satisfy OSHA and other safety requirements, protect their investments,

and ensure the safety of their employees.

Our goal is to provide the state-of-the-industry fire management

interventions that give our clients peace of mind and allow them to

focus on the dedicated task of growing and managing their business.

Our process

LithSafe™ applies a systematic approach to assessing client

emergency needs and developing extinguishing systems, training,

and procedural interventions. The steps in our development

process include:

Needs (Emergency) Analysis

We identify extinguishing system needs

and outline training and procedural

requirements.

System Design

Emergency Analysis

We design the extinguishment system

that is right for the client organization

and meets their needs.

System Install

Training and Exercising

Our Training Modules Include:

The comprehensive nature of our packages is reflected in our training

offerings. We provide training (online/classroom/field exercising) that

addresses all areas of the battery fire issue and more. Our training

components identify life safety standards and requirements (OSHA,

NFPA, etc.), clarify fire behavior, outline, demonstrate, and walk

through extinguisher use, and highlight Lithium Ion and other

alternative fuel source issues.

The training module begins with Introduction to Batteries and covers a

wide range of battery fire and safety issues ultimately concluding with

Emergency Procedures. The complete course (8 modules) provides in-

depth coverage of the fire and safety issues associated with li ion

batteries.

Introduction to Batteries

The initial module introduces the student to the

common battery types as well as those specific to

client operations.

Battery Failures

This module highlights the causes of battery failure

Battery Fire Behavior

This module highlights the unique fire behavior of

lithium ion and other batteries

Battery Life Cycle

This module outlines the lifecycle of battery types.

Battery Storage/Charging

Highlighted are the issues associated with battery

storage and charging

Suppressant Choice and Effectiveness

This module compares available suppressants,

highlights their effectiveness, and offers insight into

application issues and choosing the proper

suppressant.

Fire Extinguishers and Suppressing Systems

This module addresses fire extinguisher choice

and use and identifies proper suppressants for

lithium ion and lithium (class D) fires.

Emergency Procedures

The development, exercise, and

development/deployment of proper fire

response procedures is explored.

EV Battery Charging Station Safety (NEW)

Our newest offering walks the learner through

the unique hazards presented by charging

stations. The content ranges from shock hazard

issues to the fire issues encountered by first

responders and others.

LithSafe™ offers standard operating procedures development that

guides our client organizations through the emergency process. These

procedures help to ensure that life safety and protection of property

remains core to business operations.

Emergency Operating Procedures

Emergency Procedures (Fight or Flight)

Effective emergency response procedures and action plans help

organizations prepare for battery fires that have shown the

ability to complete disrupt their business. Lithium (ion) battery

fires present unique challenges relative to response and business

continuity. Complete response goes well beyond fire

intervention and deals with the after effects of the fire. Well

prepared organizations understand the need for 360 degree

preparation and the ability to quickly recover from a battery fire.

LithSafe™ provides emergency operating procedure design

and development services that create interventions per

client specifications. It is important that the employees

have a clear understanding of when to fight a fire versus

when to evacuate to safety. We work with our clients to

shape procedures that protect the workplace while placing

the organizations most precious resource (their people) in

the best position regarding life safety.

Emergency Action Plans

We offer optional services for developing and exercising

emergency action plans. Our goal is to protect people by

developing custom Emergency Action Plans for our clients.

Our clients benefit by preparing for a worse-case

emergency scenario and meeting stringent OSHA, NFPA,

and local fire and emergency codes and standards.

There are many examples of battery fires, certainly those in vehicles

and stationary energy storage systems, which have caused

considerable damage to infrastructure, people and company image.

One of more consistent missing components of the response package

is business continuity planning. Fire incident management is crucial.

However, response does not end with suppression. Our clients made it

clear to us that they wanted additional intervention help, the type that

went beyond the fire and to plant the seeds of recovery.

Through our work for the US EPA, LithSafe™ has developed a robust

approach to dealing with battery fires throughout the battery life

cycle. The ultimate goal is to prevent the battery fire. However, in the

event of a fire, post incident management and recovery is critical to

restoring operations and business functions.

Business Continuity Planning

LithSafe™ offers optional business continuity planning as

part of our services. Business Continuity Planning (BCP)

provides a business with procedures that keep business

operations running. BCP is working out how to continue

operations under adverse conditions that include local

events like building fires, regional incidents like

earthquakes and floods, and national incidents like

pandemic illnesses. In fact, any event that could impact

operations should be considered, such as supply chain

interruption, loss of or damage to critical infrastructure

(major machinery or computing/network resource).
