The image is obtained behind the plane which is present in the mirror. This process of obtaining a mirror image which virtual and erect is known as a reflection on a plane mirror. If A ray of light is originated from a point P and strike the plane mirror at Q such that linePQ makes an angle of 90° with the mirror hen this ray of light will be returned back by the plane mirror along same path in the direction QP. But if a ray of light strikes a plane mirror at n angle of incidence less than 90° then it is reflected as per laws of reflection.
