District Cricket Restructure

Warwickshire Cricket Board has recently taken the decision to move from 6

districts to 4. This exciting new transition is to improve the quality and stand-

ard of cricket at youth level throughout the county. By doing this we are cre-

ating a more competitive environment for players to accelerate onto the

Development of Excellence performance ladder creating a closer gap be-

tween District and DOE cricket.

Our plans to professionalise district cricket is to achieve:

Greater concentration of playing talent

Greater identification for players with their district / nearest town or city

A higher standard of coaches

Competition for coaches working with performance players

More support and training for district coaches with a view to progress

Rationalisation of resources

District cricket will consist of the following four teams at Under 11s, 13s and 15s - Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull and Warwick. These four dis-

trict teams will train throughout the winter and will play in a Whitsun and summer festival. WCB will also be running the current under 9s dis-

trict in all four districts and the possibility of an under 17s district week in the summer.

With the district structure moving to 4 areas, the Warwickshire Cricket Board is now looking for Managers and Coaches:

Managers

Warwickshire Cricket Board is now looking for an individual within each district team to manage the running of the team through the summer

and winter months. Having managers at each age group will align the district with county and will improve the management and running of

district cricket.

If you would like to apply for the role of Volunteer District Manager please complete the application form : District Manager Application

Coaches

Warwickshire Cricket Board is now looking for coaches to apply for the role of district coach with a view to professionalise district cricket within

the county. Within each District team (U11, U13, U15) there will be three coaches – one lead coach and two support coaches.

If you would like to apply for the role of District Coach please complete the application form: District Coach Application

Sponsorship

This exciting new transition to move from 6 District to 4 is to improve the quality and standard of cricket at youth level throughout the county.

By doing this we are creating a more competitive environment for players to accelerate onto the Development of Excellence performance lad-

der creating a closer gap between District and DOE cricket.

We are currently looking for valued supporters of youth cricket to sponsor the development of youth cricket in Warwickshire. We have a num-

ber of different packages which supporters can own throughout the 2015-2016 season. Please see the link attached for our various District

Safeguarding Young Cricketers

The England and Wales Cricket Board is firmly and enthusiastically com-

mitted to continuing to provide an environment that is safe, welcoming

and friendly for children and for all people to enjoy the game of cricket.

Safeguarding in cricket is based upon providing an enjoyable environ-

ment that meets the needs and requirements of children.

A welcoming environment where children are asked for and are able to

offer their views and opinions (for example, about the game, training

sessions, or arrangements generally) is a safer environment, where chil-

dren feel more able to share concerns, and everyone feels more able to

challenge poor practice or behaviour.

If you are a CSW / level 2 coach and need to renew your Safeguarding

Young Cricketers certificate please email Darren Franklin

on [email protected] with the following details:

Full Name, DOB. Email, Address, Postcode and Contact number

You will then receive an email from [email protected] (check you junk

mail) which will provide you with a password to your own e-learning

portal where you can complete the safeguarding young cricketers mod-

ule online. This will stay in date for 3 years. At which point you will have

to renew the certificate again.

DBS (Disclosure and Barring) checks and ECB vetting

The England and Wales Cricket Board is firmly and enthusiastically com-

mitted to continuing to provide an environment that is safe, welcoming

and friendly for children and for all people to enjoy the game of cricket.

Safeguarding in cricket is based upon providing an enjoyable environ-

ment that meets the needs and requirements of children.

Like all organisations working with children, the organisation (the club,

league, panel or other setting) has safeguarding responsibilities con-

ferred upon it by legislation and guidance. One such is to have “safe

recruitment practices for individuals who…will work regularly with chil-

dren, including policies on when to obtain a criminal records check”.

This Guidance is available here: Guidance on Roles in Cricket that Re-

quire a Vetting Check

To obtain a DBS application form, please contact GB Group (Formerly
