Section 2. Corporate Overview

Logicalis makes technology work for you. Our expertise helps

transform business operations – making them more flexible, efficient and

productive.

We deploy and manage secure, converged infrastructure that can

increase agility, reduce risk through a consistent and repeatable

framework, and cut operating costs by 20-50%. It’s a result we’ve

achieved time and again for both enterprise and government customers.

Network and compute are rapidly converging. That’s why we offer

integrated solutions that embrace storage, security, server and IP

networking – providing a scalable platform. Our secure network, storage

and compute solutions are based on VMware, Cisco and EMC

technology. We also believe that organisations are looking for

transformational solutions, and for partners and vendors that can deliver

increased agility while reducing operational costs.

At the heart of our managed services is nVisage, an infrastructure

management application delivered through a Software as a Service

(SaaS) model. Developed over the past 12 years, it underpins a unique

approach to supporting and managing IT infrastructure that allows

customers to gain visibility into the IT environment and reduce support

costs. The proof of our performance can be seen in the outcomes which

we’ve achieved for enterprise and government customers.

2.1. Capabilities Overview

We’re here to help business increase agility and productivity, while

reducing operational and support costs. Our success is based on

understanding our customers’ business objectives and tailoring the most

effective technologies and managed services to their individual needs.

Services: Today’s companies are expected to deliver secure,

adaptable, instantaneous and transparent service – with

technology that is increasingly complex. Our services are

designed to help you accomplish this, from planning and

implementation to managed services that reduce costs and

increase operational efficiency. Our unique approach to

infrastructure management and managed services is founded

on nVisage – a powerful infrastructure monitoring and

management application delivered through a Software as a

Service model and backed by restoration SLAs.

Borderless Networks: Logicalis helps drive workplace

productivity by designing and delivering networks that enable

employees to communicate and work with anyone, from

anywhere, on any device. We take an “architectural approach”

to designing and delivering networks that support improved

workplace productivity, to build a scalable platform that will

meet current and future requirements.

Collaboration and Video: Logicalis has delivered some of the

largest Unified Communications deployments in Australia. Our

video-conferencing and collaboration technologies help deliver

a better customer experience and accelerate productivity.

Data Centre: The economics of the data centre are changing.

Where 70% of IT budget was traditionally spent on ‘keeping the

lights on’, a shift towards consolidation, virtualisation and

automation is transforming the way in which information and

services are consumed. Logicalis is closely aligned with Cisco,

EMC and VMware to deliver and manage VCE-based data

centre solution – and assist customers in developing a roadmap

to private cloud computing.

2.2. Why Logicalis?

Logicalis' value is in translating technology into business

outcomes.

The IT function is continually being asked to do more with less. That’s

why we work hard to make technology work for you. We’re experts at

aligning IT solutions with business strategy – resulting in increased

flexibility, efficiency and productivity.

2.3. Proven Track Record

We’ve offered ongoing support to over 800 corporate and government

customers since 1997, including:

Ausgrid: Network management across Energy Australia’s

communications technologies, such as video to the desktop

GPT Group: deployment of a “VCE”-based Data Centre

upgrade, achieving an 88% reduction in the number of servers

and a much more efficient transfer of data.

Five reasons customers work with us:

1. Experienced: we have deployed and supported some of the largest networks in

Australia, as well as across Asia-Pacific and internationally

2. Effective: Our IT solutions deliver positive results because we take the time to

understand our customers’ IT and business strategy

3. Flexible: We are driven by customer requirements, not complex contracts

4. Partnership: We’re genuinely committed to our customers; something reflected

in the customer satisfaction results we consistently achieve

5. Efficient: We’re ISO 9001 and ISO 20000 certified, and our business processes

mean we’re able to reduce project deployment risk and support costs by 20 -50%.

3.1. Project Services

Our reputation has been built on our ability to plan and deploy complex

IT projects at the highest level.

Our services are based on a total network ‘support lifecycle’ that assists

customers from planning and design right through to implementation and

support. Whether it’s converging multi-site networks or helping migrate

to private cloud computing, our experience ensures consistent, low-risk

outcomes.

We’ve been entrusted to commission a new converged network for a

300-user hospital facility within two weeks; we’ve deployed over 3,000 IP

phones for a major Melbourne-based services office provider; and we’ve

managed one of the largest powered Cisco ports in a multi-campus

educational environment.

3.1.1. Our Approach

We combine rigorous project management with the best people,

processes and tools. Our wealth of experience means we deliver on

time, minimise risk and business impact, and ensure a quality result:

People: Our Project Managers’ wealth of experience across

many technologies is complemented by highly-skilled project

management.

Processes: We combine industry best practice with our

combined experience from hundred of projects and mansaged

services customers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Our

‘Logicalis Business Practice’ ensures consistently high levels of

delivery across any project

Tools: We provide a strategic project plan and conduct regular

progress reviews to ensure quality – and resolve problems

quickly.

In short, Logicalis has the experience to know where problems may

arise and to avoid them. We know how to deliver projects on time and

with minimal business risk and impact.

3.2. Support and Managed Services

Logicalis understands the importance of providing the right support

services, and we offer a range of support services though our 24x7

Global Support Centre:

Maintenance: Flexible hardware maintenance options to

ensure maximum returns from your IT investment.

Proactive Maintenance: Combines traditional ‘break/fix’

maintenance with proactive network monitoring for faster

resolution times.

Managed Services: Real-time monitoring and management of

customer infrastructure, with the ability to proactively identify,

resolve and report on activities and problems. Provides

complete infrastructure visibility through nVisage, a real-time,

web-based interface.

3.2.1. Maintenance

Logicalis Maintenance is a responsive break/fix service, providing a

central point of contact and co-ordination, leveraging vendor spares

holdings. Logicalis maintains very close relationships with vendors,

especially with Cisco and Cisco’s Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) to

ensure that parts, software and engineers arrive on time and that

maintenance issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. All maintenance

calls all filtered through our Global Support Centre, avoiding the issues

associated with traditional “follow the sun” style models.

3.2.2. Proactive Maintenance

This provides the fastest, most cost-effective resolution of hardware-

related faults. Traditional maintenance services are reactive, requiring

the customer to detect, identify and isolate the problem – and then

identify whether the equipment is under maintenance and log a case

with a third party. The maintenance provider then goes through a similar

procedure, delaying any resolution.

Proactive Maintenance combines traditional reactive maintenance with a

monitoring service. This enables our technical specialists to remotely

detect, identify and isolate problems of all devices under maintenance

much faster.

Page 11 Logicalis Corporate Overview © Logicalis 2010 Corporate Overview

3.2.3. Managed Services

The performance of IT infrastructure is now a key point of interest for

company executives. Which is why IT decision-makers are looking for

information that supports effective capacity planning and enables

business SLAs to be measured and reported.

Our managed services combine people, process and technology to

reduce support costs by 20-50% and significantly improve IT visibility.

Unlike many providers, our managed services are backed by

restoration SLAs and delivered through our ISO-accredited

processes.

In contrast to in-house monitoring – which often experiences problems in

obtaining full visibility of networks and systems –managed services

provide comprehensive remote monitoring and a cost-effective means of

managing infrastructure. Our tools offer complete visibility of health and

performance, as well as transparency into the fault resolution process.

Monthly reports summarise performance and highlight any issues –

providing recommendations on ways to improve performance and

capacity planning.

3.2.4. nVisage

The technology at the heart of our network management services is

nVisage. nVisage provides a complete monitoring, management and

problem resolution application. It allows customers to see exactly what is

happening within the infrastructure – in real-time, across multiple

technologies.

It’s delivered via a ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) model that requires no

on-site hardware or software installation. This means we can have

nVisage fully operational, risk-free, within days – even in complex, multi-

site environments.

3.3. Borderless Networks

The workplace is transforming. People can now communicate and work

with anyone, anywhere, on any device, using any resource. A new

network architecture is required to support this change; one that enables

mobility, supports video and video-conferencing and recognises that

consumers now drive technology choices.

Complexity and risk are increasing. In today’s world, organisations not

only have to manage scalability, availability and performance – but also

the end-user experience, over non-IT-controlled devices and networks.

Security and governance are now an intrinsic part of the network

platform.

Our consulting-led approach will work with you to identify business

challenges and objectives, which will help shape a technology blueprint.

While every solution is different, we take into consideration:

Decoupling software from hardware, so services can be quickly

enabled

Converging systems and services to provide a consistent

platform on which to build

Incorporating policy to implement, automate and unify services

end to end

Addressing security at the first point of network entry –

preventing malware from spreading internally behind the

firewalls and intrusion detection system.

3.4. Unified Communications and Collaboration

Competitive advantage is gained through being faster, more efficient

and more responsive.

Yet traditional and non-integrated communication is often slow,

unproductive and inflexible – driving customers away. According to

Forrester Research, over 50% of companies surveyed admitted that

inefficient communication had become the status quo, and that project

delays were experienced on a weekly basis.

Unified Communications is a cutting-edge solution. It integrates the most

frequently-used productivity applications and services – including voice,

video, web conferencing, voicemail, instant messaging and presence

information – and uses dynamic presence information to allow staff to

track down colleagues in real time.

Unified Communications can enable:

Faster ‘speed to market’ and business decision-making

Better productivity

Better customer service and engagement

More streamlined business processes.

Unlike traditional IT projects, Unified Communications touches every

user and affects processes across an entire organisation. Successful

implementation involves every user being trained on the new system –

and solid management to minimise the inherent risks of transformational

change.

Logicalis has the technical and operational expertise to implement a

successful Unified Communications solution – and has worked with

customers in virtually every industry since the inception of IP telephony

3.5. Data Centre

The economics of the data centre are changing, as new architectures

integrate the network, compute and storage platforms. As a result, there

is a shift from today’s data centre environment – where up to 70% of

budget is spent ‘keeping the lights on’ – to one that delivers

consolidation, virtualisation and automation.

Data centre virtualisation is profoundly transforming the way in which

information and services are consumed and provided:

Reducing complexity by moving from discrete, siloed

infrastructure components, and the management of silos, to

pooled infrastructure that can be managed holistically

Lowering costs by using energy and resources efficiently,

capital and operational costs can be cut by over 50%.

Maximum utilisation of resources can be achieved by effective

pooling, increased automation of operations, and the

appropriate use of public cloud services

Enabling flexible and agile IT service delivery through

policy-driven automation and self-service capabilities,

regardless of where these services are sourced from

Simplifying operations and management, with faster

provisioning and the ability to manage the infrastructure as a

single system

Partnering with VMware, Cisco and EMC, Logicalis uses validated

designs and architectures to build a roadmap to private cloud computing.
