Aim of the project

• To create an online repository for the Department of Languages, based on the Language Box, to allow course developers, tutors and staff tutors easy access to tutorial materials for all languages and levels.

Project outcomes

• All materials for all levels and languages are available, and users can share their own materials with the user community.

• OU tutorial materials made available to the wider languages community.

• A change in the way we work (OERs, access, transparency, quality).

How is LORO shaping up?

• Most core collections uploaded, providing a bank of over 700 resources

• LORO now integrated with the OU server (http://loro.open.ac.uk), with user accounts for each member of staff

Latest data

• 90% of tutors have used LORO to download materials for their course

• 30% of tutors have browsed and downloaded materials for other courses they don’t tutor

Moving on to phase II

• Individual accounts• Sharing levels• Training and support• Tagging and commenting• Rights issues
