    II. LEARNER DESCRIPTION:

    This lesson will take place in a traditional high school Chinese program, whichfollows the text Chinese Link. This is a Chinese I class that has learned less than 70

    Chinese words and few question patters in last semester.

    III. MATERIALS:

    Textbook, visuals, and handouts

    IV. ACTIVITIES:A. WARM UP:

    - Show two pictures of family picture on the board and have students guessthe theme.

    - Have students put the images on the board to make a family tree.

    B. INPUT/ENGAGING LEARNERS:Using the materials that I have prepared to introduce the lesson.

    Hello Everybody, my name is Xiaomei, I am from New York.

    I study English literature.

    Let me introduce my family. My home is in New York.

    There are people in my family, father, mother, older

    sister, older brother, younger brother, and me.

    Then, I will go back to the dialogues.

    My father is British and my mother is Japanese.

    My father is an Engineer and my mother is a teacher. My sister and I are all

    students.

    My family has a dog and a cat.

    My family has a car.

    Comprehensions checking with scaffolding by asking students yes or no

    questions, and force choice, such as:

    I will point to the visual and ask students,

    What is this?

    Is this dog or engineer?

    Is this house or dog?

    Do you have dogs? ?

    C. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:1. I will create a matching game worksheet for students to practice the

    vocabularies that they have been learning from the class.

    - Students are allowed to work with a partner or individually

    2. Group activity: students will have to ask two of her classmates about what

    pet she have. Then, students are required to share her finding.

    D. CLOSURE:

    I will ask each student to write down two things that they have learned todayand have students share their answers.

    E. HOMEWORK:

    Please complete Ch6 character workbook.
