Information on the dayInformation tents are located right around campus and their locations are highlighted on the map at the back of this program. Macquarie staff and students, easy to spot in their red information shirts, will be on hand to answer all your questions and help you find your way around.

Where to startSquare One is the place to kick off your day. Located in the Central Courtyard, it’s where you can speak to a current Macquarie student adviser about their uni experience, plan your day, decide what lectures to attend and find out exactly who you should be talking to throughout the day.

Alternative program informationThis program is available in Braille, large print or CD by phoning (02) 9850 6494 or TTY (02) 9850 6493 during business hours, or from the Campus Wellbeing stall located on Wally’s Walk, next to the Central Courtyard on Open Day. An Auslan interpreter is also available on Open Day at the Campus Wellbeing stall, 10am – 2pm.

Open Day is all about giving you a taste of what Macquarie has to offer. You can check out our awesome campus, talk to academics about specific courses and subjects and attend mini-lectures on some of our undergraduate programs.

Information on how you actually apply to Macquarie, our scholarships, accommodation, sport and career opportunities, will also be available.

Open Day is also a hub of entertainment and fun activities for all ages. There are heaps of food and drink options and the Macquarie Express trackless trains provide a great way to see the campus.

open day 2011Art GallerySong of Earth and Sea: Shay docking 1956 – 1996This exhibition is a major survey exhibition capturing the life and work of one of Australia’s foremost artists – Shay Docking. Exploring the majestic realm of the Australian landscape through Docking’s unique vision, coupled with her intense study of volcanoes and the angophora tree, offers new readings of the Australian environment. The exhibition will reflect the way Docking represented nature and the landscape as intrinsically linked to our evolving national identity. Curator’s floor talk at 11am.

Arboretum walking tourJoin us on a tour of the Arboretum and discover the special trees, gardens and landscapes across campus. Learn about the teaching gardens, local native vegetation, the University’s connection with the catchment, and the history of the campus. The tour will start at 2pm from outside Building E11A.

Back pain?Have a special check-up on the posture machine in Building E7B indoor courtyard near the chiropractic advising booth or the Chiropractic Clinic tent in the Central Courtyard.

Trackless trainsHop on the Macquarie Express trackless trains to tour the campus – three will be running from 10am until 3pm and stations will be at the bus stop, car parks, Campus Hub building, Sport and Aquatic Centre, Building W6B museums, new library, Building E7B and C5C advising areas. It’s a great way to get around, see the campus and experience all the activities on offer on Open Day.
