The mast head of this magazine is pink and white allowing it to stand out from the background and the other things on the front cover. Having the masthead covered up by the cover image suggests that the title of the magazine doesn’t sell it the most but the band featured in the magazine. The font of the masthead is quite girly suggesting that the magazine is aimed at girls.
The features that are advertised on the front cover of the magazine show that the magazine covers music, gossip and celebs. The majority of the articles featured in the magazine are aimed at teen girls and so they have the font in an easily readable font that will stand out when seen from afar.
As this magazine is aimed at teen girls the main colour scheme is pinks, yellow and white. This is so that on a shelf it is easy to see the genre and type of magazine you are going to buy.
The cover image of the band ‘The Wanted’ shows that the magazine
is for girls as they are dressed very casually which suggests that
they are going to be talking about their lives and so girls are going to
want to read the magazine. The colours that they are wearing
make them stand out against the white background and the pink
colours of the text allowing them to be seen.
The anchorage text used is big and bold so it stands out against
the cover image. By having a coloured background on the anchorage text it allows it to
really stand out and highlight that fact the ‘The Wanted’ are
featured in the magazine. Having ‘OMG!’ in the anchorage text
shows that the writers also feel the same way about them and so
they feel closer to their target audience as they react the same
way the readers would if they met them.
The other images featured on the magazine are all of boys, again,
highlighting the fact the magazine is for girls. Having these smaller
than the cover image means that the article on these aren’t as
popular as the cover images.

Features
The Masthead of this magazine is in the top corner so that it will be visible when stacked on the shelves in the shops. The colour of the masthead is very bold and so stands out against the white background. I t is a very recognisable masthead that represents the magazine as a music magazine.
The anchorage text of the magazine is the largest test after the masthead and so it stands out and catches people eye as they pass the magazine. Having her name in a different font highlights who she is and also makes the feature seem more personal as the font looks like handwriting. The word ‘Everybody’ suggests that a lot of people are going to buy the magazine and so you have to be part of it as well to stay up to date.
The colour scheme of this magazine is white, pinks and yellow. This suggests that the magazine is aimed at girls as these are stereotypical girls colours. They also stand out from the white background making them more noticeable.
The Cover image of this magazine is of Lana Del Ray. By having her
the only person on the cover it suggests that she is the most
important artist featured in the magazine. As she is wearing
white she seems to blend into the background, which could relate to
the feature about her before she was famous. The blood on her
face suggests that she isn’t as happy as people think that she is .
The other features on the magazine cover are a lot smaller
that the anchorage text suggesting that they aren’t their to catch peoples attention or as
important as the main anchorage text. The font used for the text is the same for all,
keeping the front cover consistent.

Colour Scheme
The Masthead for this magazine covers the entire top of this cover and so it is the only thing that can be seen when it is on the shelves. The font of the title is quite plain and so it doesn’t distract from the actual features of the magazine. This font is also the same one used in all the magazines which makes the m identifiable.
The cover image on this magazine is very simple suggesting that the artist is widely known enough to have a more subtle photo to get people to read the magazine. The black clothing that Miley Cyrus is wearing makes her very pale complexion really stand out against the background and clothing.
The layout of this this magazine is very simple and has hardly anything on the front cover. This means that there is less to distract people away from the main article.
The other features on the front cover are a lot smaller than the
anchorage text and so they disappear on the page. The font
used is very plain and easily readable . This font suggests that
the magazine is aimed more at adults than at teenagers because
the font isn’t needed to attract peoples attention towards this
magazine.
The colour scheme for this magazine is very grown up and
feminine showing that the magazine is for female adults.
The plain purple background of this front cover allows the white
text and the cover image of Miley Cyrus to really stand out whilst
also adding a more feminine colour to the magazine.
ComparisonAll of these front covers appear to be aimed a females as the colours used are quite feminine. This is also backed up by the artists that they used for the main cover image. Both ‘Q’ and ‘top of the pops’ magazines use pink and white as the main colours for their cover suggesting that they are both aimed more at teens that adults. This is different to the ‘Billboard’ magazine cover because the purple, black and white colours used gives the cover a more sophisticated look implying that the magazine is aimed more at adults.
Another difference between the ‘top of the pops’ magazine and both the ‘Q’ and ‘Billboard’ magazines is that the ‘top of the pops’ has a lot more pictures on the front. Whereas the others only have one cover image making them appear more grown up and simpler. This also makes the ‘top of the pops’ magazine look as though it is meant to appeal to a wider ranged audience as they have multiply artists on the cover as opposed to just the one.
