Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born

on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India. He

was born to Putlibai Gandhi (Mother) &

Karamchand Gandhi (Father).

In May1883 at the age of 13, Gandhi ji was

married through his parents arrangement to

Kasturba Makharji, who was the same age

as he at 13. They had four sons: Harilal

Gandhi, born in 1888; Manilal Gandhi; born

in 1892; Ramdas Gandhi, born in 1897; and

Devdas Gandhi; born in 1990.

After his return to India he continuously strived for the betterment of Indian Society. He wanted the people to develop the spirit of love, brotherhood, peace & education. He developed a method of action based upon the principles of courage, non-violence and truth called Satyagraha. Gandhiji emphasised on promoting Indian Products to make our economy and people well-being prosper.

In order to resist against the British, Gandhi encouraged the men to spin (which was traditionally women’s work) and weave their own cloth and wear clothing made from this homespun cloth. This cloth was called khaddar or khadi (meaning rough).

Gandhiji wanted to impart education to all. He believed that children are the future of a nation so we should nurture their talents & educate them for a brighter tomorrow.

ü Candidates shall abide by the Rules and Regulations in force as well as those that may be

issued by the University from time to time.

ü False declaration of qualification by the candidate will disqualify his/her admission to the

University including appropriate penal action.

ü All legal disputes, if any, shall come under the Jurisdiction of Meghalaya city only.

ü Any change in name or address should be intimated to the University.

ü Changes any or upgradation in syllabus is decision of University on its own.

ü Any students who is found to have concealed information about himself/herself in any

form or violates any provisions, is liable to be removed from the rolls forthwith and will be

deprived of the benefits of attendance, examination, results, awards etc. in the programme

concerned, apart from appropriate disciplinary action and imposition of penalty.

ü Students, who have discontinued their studies after passing the semester/year

examination from another department / college affiliated to any recognized University, are

eligible for admission in next semester / year in this University in the concerned

Programme, as per the regulations laid down by the University on payment of prescribed
