1. One pan will formthe back of theoven and the othertwo will be the sides.Use the nail topunch holes in eachof the pans as shown.

2. Attach the oven back tothe sides by threadingthe wires through thepunched holes andtwisting the wirestogether on the outside.Do not tie too tightly —you want to be able toadjust the angle of thesides to get the best heat.

3. For a small fire, position the oven around threesides of the fire, with the oven’s back to thebreeze. Use the three rocks to steady the sidepanels and back. For a large fire, set up the ovenbeside the hottest side of the fire.

4. Place four stones of equal height in the middle ofthe oven to support the grill. A cake rack makesan excellent campfire grill. Metal shelves fromold refrigerators or barbecues are the perfect sizeand are sturdy too.

5. You can warm food in a pot or foil containerplaced on the grill or cook right on the grill. Turnto pages 3 and 4 for some reflector oven recipes.

With a campfire reflector oven, you cancook just about anything that you canmake in a regular oven. The food willhave that special smoky campfire taste.

This reflector can be reused many times oncookouts and camping trips.

1. Tear off 75 cm (30 in.) of aluminum foil.

2. Roll each end of the foil around the sticks,as shown.

3. Push the sticks into the ground on one side ofthe fire so that the breeze blows towards theback, or less shiny side, of the foil reflector. Forfires built on rock, use several stones to hold thesticks in place. To store the reflector, roll the foilaround one of the sticks as you would a scroll.

Natural ReflectorsCampfires can be built with natural reflectors by siting thefire beside a rock face. The rocks will heat up and bouncethe heat back towards the fire. Food can be placed betweenthe fire and the rock to take advantage of the heat. This isgreat for heating up food such as baked beans.

1. Slice the oranges inhalf and scoop out andeat or save the fruit.Use a large spoon toscrape out anyleftovers.

2. If the orange halfdoesn’t sit level, cut asliver of rind from thebottom of it.

3. Prepare the muffinmix according to thedirections on thepackage. Half fill theorange halves withmuffin mixture.

4. Place the oranges onthe grill and watchthem bake. Cookingtimes will varydepending on the heatof the fire, but themuffins should be donein 20 to 25 minutes.

5. Remove the orangerind muffins from thegrill using pot holdersand a poker. Allowthem to cool for severalminutes before eating.

You can cook yourfavorite cupcake mixin orange rinds too.

1. Place the berries in thecentre of a piece of foil,about 30 cm (12 in.)long, shiny side facingup.

2. Pour the honey overthe berries.

3. In the bowl or pot, mixeverything else exceptthe margarinetogether with a spoon.

4. Pat the mixture overthe berries.

5. Dot the top of themixture with smallpieces of margarine.

6. Fold the foil aroundthe berries andtopping, sealing it allinside.

7. Place the foil packageon the grill for about30 minutes.

8. Remove it with twopokers and allow thefoil to cool slightlybefore opening yourcampfire cobbler to eat.This recipe feeds fourto six people.
