North Bay Leadership Council’s spring economic insight report “How to Make the North Bay a Jobs Magnet,” calls for visible math and science programs for youth in grades K-12.

Physicist Jack Deslippe

Engineer Linh Nguyen

to develop a series of fun and inspiring school year math and science programs aimed at middle youth.

LSTA grant allows expansion to include circulating materials, including science kits and recreational reading centered on math and science.

PURPOSE

80% of responding participants

indicated they were as or more

interested in pursuing a higher degree in math or

Four afterschool programs: Motors, Magnets, Optics and Waves

10 circulating patron science kits

20 staff science kits

63 recreational reading books

It was lots of fun and I'll always remember it. This was a great experience. My kids came

three times and loved it! Please do this again.

It was fantastic… really good and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

Continue the program and expand it to include all ages.

Identify a project lead for Science Programming

Expand program system-wide.
