PhotoPlus X5

Page 2: Making my movie poster

I am not that familiar with PhotoPlus X5 so I didn’t really know what to do at first. But then I was able to insert two different pictures as layers so in this case I used a photograph I had taken and a still image from the eyes in the trailer and used them in the background.

Page 3: Making my movie poster

I had used the layers to make this try at making my poster but the eyes didn’t really stand out for me so I decided to edit them because it was done in layers whilst I chose to edit the eyes nothing would happen or change to the face.

Page 4: Making my movie poster

I used a colour balance making the eyes more red to make them stand out and seem more scarier in the background. I did like the way that this looked and the effect it did have that the eyes were right behind her and also with the match light being the only like in the picture.

I used SerifDraw X5 to put text onto the poster because on Serif there seemed to be more choices in the font of the text and the colour. I found it difficult to find the right font and colour and where also to position the text on the poster as it just seemed to look weird or cover up the face on Gemma.

Page 6: Making my movie poster

I did find these effects that I could use to fill the text but because of the darkness in the picture it just blended into the background of the eyes and wasn’t visible enough but using a lighter shade made the text too visible and didn’t blend into the picture.

This is what I had of the picture before I gave up and left it and decided to go onto another idea that I was thinking of. For me, it wasn’t working as well as I had hoped and I just thought it was time to start trying something else.

Page 8: Making my movie poster

For my next idea I needed a photo of the woods so I took a few different ones that I thought would work for an idea that I had.

Page 9: Making my movie poster

I also downloaded a picture for google of a silhouette so I could include this in the distance for my next idea.

Page 10: Making my movie poster

Next I was able to then put them into the layers I had used before. But the silhouette didn’t really blend so I edited it.

Page 11: Making my movie poster

I blurred the silhouette which them made it look more like it was more in the background.

Page 12: Making my movie poster

This is what it turned out to look like. I didn’t look at adding any text yet because I hadn’t figured out what font I will use and what effect I wanted it to have.

Page 13: Making my movie poster

Serif DrawPlus X5I then went onto to trying SerifDraw X5 to see if it had any different effects then PhotoPlus X5.

Page 14: Making my movie poster

I found this these effects which made it look like the picture faded down on the page. Which I thought reminded me of the Shutters Island poster so maybe I could include a picture from the trailer at the bottom like the Shutters Island poster included the island.

Page 15: Making my movie poster

I used the text on SerifDraw X5 and used the raindrop shape and put it on the text to make it look like dripping blood that’s coming down from the text. I used the colour red to fill the text so that it looks like blood and because red is the colour for danger also.

Page 16: Making my movie poster

I then tried to see what it would look like if I did it like if I put some of the images from the trailer on to the poster like the poster for Jack Reacher I looked at.

I didn’t really like it the images of the movie trailer just looked out of place so I don’t really like this idea.

Page 17: Making my movie poster

I repositioned the poster but I thought about the idea of the dripping blood on the text and decided to see what it would look like if I put some more drops further down the poster so it looked like they had dripped down.

I decided to use October because of Halloween. Before Halloween lots of horror films come out and I wanted my film to be seen as the must see horror film at Halloween.

Page 18: Making my movie poster

I added some names for the people who would be in the film and decided to also use the same blood dripping effect on their names also.

Page 19: Making my movie poster

I included my production logo on my poster also.

Next I had to add the small text that goes on a movie poster so the actors/actresses, the company and basically people who helped me create the film.

Page 20: Making my movie poster

After viewing my poster once I had finished I felt like I needed more blood so using the teardrop shape and also a line I made the blood look more like it was dripping down the poster instead of being just put on the poster it looks more animated like it is dripping.
