Directions for Making a String Printing Plate

1. Pick an image.2. Draw line drawing on paper. 3. Label FRONT and BACK. 4. Use light board to trace image onto BACK.5. Put dark oil pastel on FRONT.6. Get a piece of thick cardboard and tape paper with the

BACK up.7. Transfer lines by drawing on them. Oil pastel will show

through.8. Cut yarn to fit your lines. 9. Use a good amount of glue so that it stays on the

cardboard.

Goals for Line Printing plate1. NO WORDS!2. Contour lines3. Which means outlines and detail lines, lines only.4. You should look at a person, an artwork, an

object, image, or design.5. Think about size. Can be as big as a cardboard

box.6. Circle what you are going to draw!7. Draw on blank copy paper. You will need a clean

front and back.
