10. Student Feedback Mechanism on Institutional Governance / Faculty

Performance

The Director of the Institute, Academic coordinator/s and respective faculty members

regularly meet and interact with students so as to take stock of the inputs delivered as

well as to review the developments and arrive at decisions on academic issues. They keep

themselves updated about students’ concerns or problems so as to resolve the same at the

earliest.

Students provide periodic term-end feedback on respective courses and faculty. Students’

suggestions are part of the feedback mechanism. With a strong belief in incorporating

innovative practices for delivering enriching learning experiences the inputs received

from students are given substantial consideration in academic matters as well as in

providing access to infrastructure needed for their overall development.

11. Grievance Redressal Mechanism for Faculty, Staff and Students

The Institute has Grievance Redressal Mechanism in place. To cater to the students’

needs and take care of students problems various committees are constituted as displayed

Students Opted for Higher Studies PGDM-BE students initiate new ventures or manage their

family businesses. Selected students opt for placements

and hence get placed through campus placement.

Consultancy Activities : Institute undertakes various projects for central

and state government departments and other

developmental organizations and is also involved

in setting up Entrepreneurship Development

Grants Fetched : The Institute does not receive any grant from

government /institutes/organizations for any of its

PGDM courses. However, it receives Grant-in-Aid

for various projects, including training, research

It also received grant from AICTE for Innovation

Promotion Scheme (IPS) under AICTE Quality

Improvement Schemes (AQIS) (vide AICTE

Sanction Order F.No.25-9/RFID/IPS/POLICY-

1/2013-14 dated 25.07.2013 for release of grant

money Rs. 1,50,000).

17. Academic Sessions

PGDM-BE & PGDM-DS programmes are spread over 6 trimesters. The students

undergo an eight week Summer Internship Training at the end of the first year and

prepare a Detailed Project Report by end of their second year (Project Report for

PGDM-DS). FPM programme is spread across 3 trimesters during the 1st year to offer compulsory

courses. ‘Area-specific Core Courses’, ‘Quantitative & Qualitative Techniques &

Research Methodology’ and ‘Thesis and Academic Writing’ Courses are offered

during the 2nd year. During 3rd and 4th year of FPM research work is undertaken by

students.

Examination System:

Trimester System is followed for conducting examination for PGDM-BE & PGDM-

DS. For all 3 credit courses, in addition to the end term examinations, mid-term

examinations are also conducted.

Annual assessment system is followed for FPM.

Period of Declaration of Results:

PGDM-BE, PGDM-BE & FPM results are declared within 15 days of the conduct of

the examination.

18. Counseling / Mentoring Students are constantly mentored by the faculty

members and visiting experts/entrepreneurs.

Career Counseling In addition to its Placement Cell services, the Institute

regularly arranges interactions and lectures on business

and career opportunities. It also invites industry

experts, professionals and entrepreneurs to interact

with students and enlighten them about various

business opportunities as well as motivate them

towards New Venture Creation.

Medical facilities A Medical Officer is available on the campus and the

Institute also has tied-up with Apollo Hospitals, which

is located near the Institute campus.

Student Insurance It is essential for all students to have medical

clubs and community service. They have initiated a group called SEED-"Students

This Garba and Dandiya night was celebrated campus during Navratri. The campus

was beautifully decorated with rangoli, diyas and the students had dressed up

occasion by wearing the in traditional attitude.

Equipo

Students also organize annual inter college sports meet 'Equipo' every year. Various

events like basketball; football match are organized in the campus where students

from other professional colleges also participate.

Social Activities

EDI aims at being an institution which creates a cadre of creative, problem solving

individuals, who are capable of leading people in the rapidly changing world as well

as contribute to social development. It seeks to inspire, empower and enable students

to develop sensitivity towards social values so that they can aid organizations

addressing critical social issues.

Blood Donation Camps

EDI students have been organizing blood donation camps in association with various

blood banks, where students as well as faculty and staff have participated with full

zest.

Industrial Visits / Tours

Industrial visits are regularly been arranged for the students with a view to enhance

their knowledge and exposure towards the practical side of the industry. Apart from

APPENDIX II: EMPRESARIO 2016

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmedabad, has been on the

forefront for nurturing entrepreneurship amongst its students. Empresario is an Annual

Entrepreneurship fest of EDI that connects entrepreneurs with Venture Capitalists, Angel

Investors, Bankers, Industry Professional and common people.

It is a unique platform for Creators, Entrepreneurs, Industry Mentors, Investors and the

Students to gather at one place and share their entrepreneurial endeavors and experiences,

and pledge to create a thriving start-up ecosystem in India. EMPRESARIO was first held

in 2012 and has since grown into one of the largest entrepreneurship festivals in India.

The festival is held over two days every year, attracting participants from varied spheres.

Empresario 2016 Theme: Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in India. Catalysing

Growth and Change!

The focus of the event is to rapidly scale-up the start-up ecosystem in Gujarat (and India,

at large) by supporting and collaborating with inspiring businesses, foundations,

investors, and individuals who are leading the way with market-oriented approaches to

global development.

As known "the world is a stage & we the mere players" thereby this platform is to propel

those who know they can & who know they will achieve, to sense what is not sensed &

to create what is not created, so this empresario fragrance will not fade till one slogan " I

have promises to keep & miles to go before I sleep". Detangling the branches of

creativity & fructifying the veins of prosperity raises an entrepreneur.

The purpose for participants of Empresario is as below:

and experts with various hopes likegetting funds, ideas, suggestions, guidance, etc.

• Students from the technical & non – technical backgrounds: Internship & Placement

opportunities in Start-up Companies, New product & technology knowledge, meet

Empresario Start-up Gujarat is the state level start-up hunt launched this year. The phase

one of this event was held in 10 locations (9 districts) viz. Rajkot, Surat, Gandhinagar,

Vadodara, Mehsana, Anand, Ahmedabad, Navsari and Surendranagar.

The cities the organizing team visited had the same schedule for the day. Firstly, the

facilitators had to explain the participants about entrepreneurship and their background.

Then, the Business Model Canvas was explained after the lunch break of the phase one

events. The participants got a whole lot of ideas about entrepreneurship, pitching their

ideas, funding, and Business Model Canvas.

young individuals, since what they were only seeking was a stage or a platform where

they could represent themselves and move ahead on their entrepreneurial journey’s.

The entire event was spread over 10 days for 10 different locations; a total of 473

participants with 132 different business ideas have participated for the entire event. This

year (2016), boot-camps were organized at ten locations of Gujarat state; 473 participants

with 132 business ideas participated in the events, out of which 40 were selected for the

second phase. In the final event, 17 teams were selected who will receive seed funding

from Gujarat Seed Funding Corporation. The event was partnered with Gujarat CSR

Authority.
