Manual: Grafityp Colour Swatches for Adobe Illustrator

What are Grafityp Swatches?

Grafityp are now offering all their colours in the form of colour samples (swatches). This very easy-to-use tool will

allow every Adobe Illustrator user to link the right Grafityp colours to his digital design. All mistakes when cutting out a

text will be avoided, as the Grafityp reference number is mentioned alongside each colour. All Grafityp cutting films

have been listed per series. By using these digital swatches, you will always know the right product reference to be

used.

The digital colour swatches contain all cutting films of Grafityp Selfadhesive Products, with their product number, and

can be downloaded for free.Once you have downloaded the swatches, the AI version can be used in Adobe Illustrator.

Attention : due to screen limitations and differing calibrations, digital colour swatches don’t always represent the exact

colour. Always check the right colour on a real colour card, which is available from your local distributor.

How to download and use the Grafityp digital swatches:

1. Open www.grafityp.com

2. Go to “download”

3. Select “Colour Charts”

4. Download “All Digital Colour Swatches 2015 (Ai)”

5. Open your design programme (Adobe Illustrator)

6. Op the downloaded Grafityp file in this programme. The following image appears.

7. Open “window”

8. Go to “swatches”

9. A separate window will now appear, which contains all Grafityp cutting films per series and

all colours are listed. Each folder is representing a complete series.

10. Activate a part of the design to give it a reference colour.

11. Click with your cursor on the desired series (in this example the Grafitack series 200-300)

12. Then define the desired colour within this series (e.g. 224 medium green glossy). Continue

until each colour of your design has been linked to a colour reference. Once you have

linked your complete design, you will always know which material is used.

13. Now if you click on a certain part of your design, one colour will light up in the “samples”

window, i.e. the colour with the right colour reference.

14. “Save” your design, so you always know the right references when asked later on.

15. You can also add these tables permanently to your samples library. This means you don’t

always have to redownload the offered “samples”. To do so, go to the upper right corner of

the Grafityp samples table.

16. Click on “save swatch library as AI” and save. These tables will then always be available.

17. If you want to use them again in a new project, just open the “swatch libraries” in “window”.

Then go to “User defined”. There you will get an overview of all the samples you imported.

In this case that is ”Grafityp all swatches 2015”.

18. The Grafityp All Colour Swatches table will appear on your screen.

19. Now click on the series from which you want to use the colours in your next design. They

will immediately be copied to the “samples” window at the right side of your screen. From

now on you can work on your design again. Afterwards there will never be any doubt about

the colours used.
