The month of March is officially Music In Our Schools Month, a public outreach pro-gram designed by The National Association for Music Education to support schoolmusic programs and raise awareness of the importance of music education. Music ed-ucation can have overwhelmingly positive benefits for students, yet increasing budgetcuts threaten music programs in schools all over the nation.

The National Association for Music Education, among the world’s largest arts educa-tion organizations, marked its centennial in 2007 as the only association that addressesall aspects of music education. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, re-tired, and preservice music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, theNational Association for Music Education serves millions of students nationwidethrough activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school.
