MAX’S MEMOS Pastor Max Hester
Discipleship and Missions
In the Christian life, discipleship and missions go hand in
hand. It’s hard to have one without the other. In fact, it’s hard to
fathom how a person could be a disciple—a follower of Jesus
Christ—and not be on mission with God to share the Gospel of
Christ around the world. This weekend, we have two great
opportunities to celebrate both. Our youth will conclude their
Discipleship Now (D-Now) Weekend with our Morning
Worship service, and we will hear a missions report during our
Evening Worship service from a missionary couple who serve
in Bangladesh--the McIntyre’s, who are on stateside furlough
and living in the missionary residence at First Baptist Church,
in Lawrenceburg, KY.

Hello FriendsHello FriendsHello FriendsHello Friends Youth Pastor Jason Kilby
While we as a community are most definitely in the middle a FLU season
this year, I think it’s clear that we are also in the midst of a seasonal change of
more than just falling leaves. I believe we all have some changes to make in our
personal lives, especially after a wonderful experience of our fall revival last
week, and a challenge from our pastor on Sunday morning. In the intensity of
challenges set forth from a revival service, Sunday morning service, or from
listening to God each day of our life, one may feel like the past couple of weeks,
months, and year have been hard. One may be struggling with life and
experiencing hardships or change like no other, yet remember these words from
Jeremiah 32:27: "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for
me?" Have you turned your eyes upon Jesus yet? In the midst of every hard
decision or circumstance that you have faced, or may face, this year, may you
feel a sense of peace and joy like a river; a river that is full of abundant life that
can only come from HIM.
I challenge you that thought on one of our most influential weeks we
have here within Lincoln County for our youth. Fusion is a group effort between
all of our youth groups in our association to unite as one to fight the devil’s
schemes. This weekend we launch D-NOW 2009. Disciple Now Weekend will
be hosted this weekend in our CLC on Friday & Saturday nights with our worship
services led by Inlightened Ministries and speaker Craig Tackett. Even though it
may be hard to rearrange a schedule, or it may be easier just to stay at home
and enjoy your weekend, please come out and participate in our worship
services which start at 7pm on both nights and show our youth that you care.
As well, I can always use you as a greeter or just an extra hand. If you choose
not to come, what I am asking from all who read this is prayer. James 5:16-
“...The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective”. I need your help
and support with much prayer; this is a very difficult thing to pull off. Also
please pray for everyone who is participating and committing time to this
special weekend which is dedicated to our youth. Pray they hear and
understand the truth about what God wants from them in their relationship and
how HE wants them to remain PURE with sex and every other temptation or
scheme the devil may throw at them. Please pray for the 13 churches that are
participating this weekend, the 10 host homes we have and 51 students within
our church, the 210 plus high and middle school students participating, 40
college students from Campbellsville who will be leading our bible studies, and
Inlightened Ministries. We kick things off on Thursday night at 6:15pm with a
D-NOW kick off and a close to Freedom Baptist’s Fall Youth Revival. Last, pray
for safety, weather, decisions, anything else you may think of.
Until the next time…Many Blessings, Jason Kilby

From the Mailbox:
Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for the letters that you have sent to me at college. I tape them all up on my wall right beside my bed! I greatly appreciate your love, thoughts, prayers, concerns, and letters, especially throughout my college career. Love, Becca Hazlett
I would like to thank my church family for the phone calls, cards, and food you provided during my recent surgery. More importantly I want to thank everyone for their prayers during this time. It is such an awesome feeling knowing I have such a caring and praying church.

Stuart Underwood, Minister of Music
Kathryn Blair did a beautiful job getting our service started last Sunday. Becky and Laura Lee’s “touch of classical” for our offertory was great and the Adult Choir did a wonderful job on “Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying”. Sunday night the Girls Ensemble did a beautiful “new year debut” job on “One Word”. Jacque Upchurch did a great job on the piano. Thanks to Carol Long for her leadership of the Girls Ensemble and to Becky Stogsdill, piano teacher for Jacque and others. Thanks to the generosity of man our new hymnals have been ordered and should be here in time for our Advent season. More than $4,500.00 was given to this cause. Thanks for your continued support to our many ministries. Have a great week! Stuart
