Warner Students Salute Our National Parks Service

Warner students in third, fourth and fifth grades participated in the Sugar Mill Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution Junior Citizenship Contest. This year’s theme was “Our National Parks: 100 Years of Service to America.” The following stu-dents won first place in stamp design: Averie Noesen, 3rd grade; Todd Boettner, 4th grade; and Summer Stevens, 5th grade. Poster winners were Zharia Pat-terson, 3rd Grade, Chloe Carlson, 4th grade and Carlie Cox, 5th grade. Jessica Purkiss’s short story and Toby Nason’s photo essay won first place for third grade and fourth grader Cimber Jenkins placed first for her poetry. We are especially proud of these students using so many different mediums to express their ap-preciation for our National Park Services. They and their families have all been invited to the Sugar Mills Chapter’s Award Night on April 18.

Sophomores Make Learning Fun

The Class of 2019 had a great day of learning and fun on their field trip, April 5, 2017. With their sponsor, Mrs. Elliott, they began the day with break-fast before heading off to the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach. Their other chaperones were Mr. Gunkle, Mrs. Pedersen, Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Judd. After a “scavenger” hunt of 105 questions to be answered from the exhibits in the three wings of the museum, they came back to campus and headed to lunch followed by an afternoon of games including a water balloon battle, kick ball and touch football. It was a day they would write down as memorable in the records of their class history!

SENIORS PLAY DURING TESTING WEEK

Annually our senior class uses testing week to participate in off-campus activities in place of taking the Terra Nova testing. Senior’s enjoyed “jumping” at Hanger 15 and a bowling tournament at Bellair Lanes. They traveled to Orlando for a service project on Wednesday and then enjoyed some go kart driv-ing before returning to school for a dodge ball tour-nament. It is fun to be a senior.

From the Superintendent... “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

No matter what we strive for in life, our efforts are always pointed towards the accomplish-ment of some form of predeter-

mined goal or objective, whether consciously or sub-consciously; to successfully complete a task that we lay out before us to effectively complete.

In Psalm 127:1, which is listed above, the au-thor points to three important truths necessary in our efforts to be successful in all that we seek to ac-complish. First, nothing can succeed unless it is the Lord’s will. God is working out His plan for His cre-ation and it does not matter how hard we strive to go our own way, we will not succeed unless our way is God’s way. Secondly, what God intends to accom-plish will get accomplished. No force in heaven or on earth can stop God from doing what He has planned. His success is guaranteed. Thirdly, God will work with us to accomplish His will. He needs no human hands. The One who spoke all of creation into existence can surely build a house on His own. But by His grace He has purposed to do some of His work through human laborers. We are not cast adrift into the world to live lives of meaningless mediocrity. We were created to follow hard after God, carrying out His will and work-ing in His kingdom.

While we labor, we do so with the assurances found in Psalm 127:1. As the people of God, we strive to walk according to His ways, avoiding irrelevant, un-productive tasks that do not conform to His will while pursuing wholeheartedly the work He has called us to do. And as we labor for Him we know that our labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). God will complete what He has begun and the fruit of our work will span eternity.

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men (Colossians 3:23).

In Christ’s Service,Mark W. Tress

Seniors Serve Those in Need

On Wednesday, March 29, while everyone was still at home, the senior class boarded a bus for their service project in Orlando working at the Feed Hope Now food bank. The job they were asked to do was to sort frozen meat for distribution to those fami-lies who need food. While doing so, seniors learned about different types of meat and how to tell if they were still good to eat. It was hard work, but mean-ingful service. When there shift was completed, they had sorted through 8,000 pounds of meat which transformed into 6,300 meals for those in need.

Paper airplanes in class? Mrs. Allie Smith’s students used paper airplanes to demonstrate prepositional phrases. Students created their own airplanes. Once the airplanes were created, they were ready for lift off! Students had to write the prepositional phrase describing where the plane landed.
