The world is a country which nobody ever yet knew

by description; one must travel through it ones self

to be acquainted with it. Lord Chesterfield

The wise and eloquent British Statesman and man of letters,

Phillip Stranhope, better known as Lord Chesterfield, offers

all of us the best advice about world travel experience ityourself.

Yes, one can read about it in a novel, a guidebook, watch a tel-

evision show or even hear about it from our family and

friends. But, a description of anothers life experiences travel-

ing through Europe, down under in Australia and New

Zealand or even to Israel and Jordan will never fulfill what

each of us will know and appreciate unless we travel to these

    amazing lands ourselves.

For decades, Mayflower Tours has been a travel ambassador to

lands around world bringing those descriptions to life for

thousands of travelers. And, 2012 is no exception with

unique opportunities like the once-in-a-lifetime Floriade offi-

cial World Horticultural Exposition in Venlo, The

Netherlands. This special event, held only every ten years, will

showcase countries from around the world at the incredible

multi-sensory exposition which we visit while on an amazing

European River Cruise sailing through four countries.

Through the joy of travel, open your heart and mind to the

beauty unique to each country with the 14 special itineraries

described in the pages ahead. Then, join us and becomeacquainted with each and every land filled with history, cul-

ture and traditions that shape our world through your own

    experiences.

We are grateful for your patronage and look forward to

sharing the world with you in 2012 and beyond.

Nicknamed Pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik is a charming port by the

Dalmatian coast, set in front of a picturesque hillside, and is one of the mostattractive destinations on the Adriatic Riviera. Few of Dubrovnik's

Renaissance buildings survived the earthquake of 1667 but fortunately

enough remain to give an idea of the city's architectural heritage. The finest

Renaissance highlight is the Sponza Palace which dates from the 16th cen-

tury and is currently used to house the National Archives. Today's intact

city walls, constructed mainly during the 12th17th centuries, have long

been a source of pride for Dubrovnik. The walls run an uninterrupted

course of approximately 6,360 ft in length, encircling most of the old city,

and reach a maximum height of about 82 ft. The city has been extensively

restored since suffering during the Balkan hostilities of the 1990s and, some

would say, is more beautiful now than ever. The old city is lined with cob-

blestoned streets, steeped in stunning architecture and sculptures and boasts

spectacular fountains, museums, monasteries and churches. The city's style

and architecture is strongly rooted in its historical Venetian and, to a lesser

extent, Turkish influence. In 1979, the old city of Dubrovnik, which

    Tel Aviv/Caesarea/Nazareth

The second largest city in Israel on the Mediterranean coast, Tel

Aviv is a bustling metropolis with a diverse population. Often called

The White City for its UNESCO-designated Bauhaus architec-

ture, Tel Aviv boasts an amazing blend of ancient and contemporary

sites. Visit Rabin Square, see Independence Hall where David Ben

Gurion declared Israels independence in May 1948 and Neve

Tzedek with its historic homes and art galleries. Continue on to

Caesarea, built by King Herod, and its ancient Roman theatre, still

used today. It was from here that Paul the Apostle, as a prisoner,

sailed on his hazardous journey to Rome. Stand in awe of theancient hippodrome, the Crusader moat and massive aqueduct.

Then continue to Nazareth, where you will visit the Basilica of the

Annunciation and St. Josephs Church before arriving in Tiberias.

    World Heritage Site of Acre

See the historic walled city of Acre, one of the oldest continually

inhabited cities in the world, dating back to the Phoenician period.

It is a city of intrigue where you can walk through a labyrinth of

alleys and streets and explore the remnants of Crusader, Muslim

    and Ottoman conquerors.
