  • What after Graduation? Why MBA?

  • What after Graduation? Why MBA?MBA offers broader career choices than traditional courses. E.g., limited career options exist after doing MA in History even from a top university; this holds true for most traditional courses

Offers wide range of opportunities and profiles unlike traditional career options such as Bank PO or Civil Services

Ease of entry for MBA in a top B-school makes it even more attractivetop 70 B-schools have roughly 14,000 seats with just about 2 lakh applicants; in contrast Civil Services 2012 had 2.5 lakh examination takers in Prelims for just 910 seats

MBA is a vocational course; highly sought after by industry

  • What after Graduation? Why MBA?Top 50-70 B-schools have 100% placement

Average pay packages in top 70 B-schools are over Rs. 5 lakhs p.a.

Top B-schools have average pay packages of over Rs. 12 lakhs p.a.

  • What after Graduation? Why MBA?MBA preparation also facilitates good back-up career options such as Banking and SSC

The exam patterns of Banking and SSC are similar to MBA. In fact, MBA entrance exams are of higher difficulty level; hence, MBA aspirants can and should apply to these exams also

  • SSCThese exams are held to recruit officers in various government verticals and ministries, which are not covered by UPSC.

SSC covers most of the group B services, group C services and other posts in the ministries.

It is similar to the Civil Services Exam of UPSC, the exam which covers major posts is the Combined Graduate Level Exam.

This exam has consolidated all the individual exams that were conducted by SSC before 2008.

It conducts many examinations among which the Combined Graduate Level Examination is the most sought after.

  • SSCUPSC offers less than 5,000 seats in all the examinations conducted

Are these seats enough to cater to the masses?

As the private sector in the country does not fill the gap between supply and demand of jobs in the country, such exams become very important for a large section of students.

Thus, SSC becomes immensely important to offer stable jobs to a large number of candidates.

Close to 30,000 Central Government jobs are provided each year.

It also includes positions like CSS cadre which is a group B service below administrative officers in the ministries.

  • SSC- Combined Graduate Level ExamThe test is conducted at two levels, mainly Tier-I and Tier-II. Aspirants who pass both the tests are interviewed thereafter.

    Tier I (Prelims) :

200 marks objective (50 each in English, Quant (math), General Awareness, Logical Reasoning)

    Tier II (Mains):

    400 marks objective ( 2 papers each of 200 marks, 2 hours test duration)oPaper 1: Math (100 questions of 2 marks each)oPaper 2: English (200 questions of 1 mark each)
