In spite of a challenging start as president of the Rota- ry, with hurdles like not knowing Robert’s Rules for meetings, being the first woman taking the gavel in Jackson and having to function in a language which is not my first, nor second or even third, I loved every moment of being your president and remain honored for having been elected. I can assure you that I do whatever is in my power to do the best for our club. The membership’s trust and appreciation are the best Christmas presents I can wish for and I want to return it to all my fellow club members with my utmost grati- tude. My life has been a succession of uprooting and replant- ing in different soils, but by now, here in the United States, I ended up in fertile ground where I can thrive and pursue learning with the support and friendship of all of you. Leonardo da Vinci , far in his eighties, declared: “Ancora Imparo”, “I am Still Learning” , I totally un- derstand what he meant. The bond of camaraderie we have as Rotarians is not only the greatest gift but a precious daily practice and way of life. Our “Service Above Self” and this year’s “Being a Gift to the World” are beacons of guidance we can apply in everything we think, say or do as Ro- tarians. So, if we choose to be Rotarians, let us not on- ly be good but the very best ones. With our 4-club joint venture in making the Rotary float and participating in the Parade of Light, I consid- er it closes my mid-year with a golden key. From the very beginning in Rotary I always dreamed of doing things with all the four Area 7 clubs. And we did it, it was gratifying to hear the public shout “Rotary, Rotary” when they saw our humongous float! I wish you all and your families a very Happy and Joy- ful Christmas and a Great Start, Health and Prosperity and many pro- jects in 2016. MERRY CHRISTMAS ROTARIANS

Abraham Lincoln said once: “Whatever you decide to be, be a good one”. PARADE OF LIGHTS 2015

A number of Rotary clubs in Amador County collaborated on the Ser-vice float. Good folks stepping up to make a difference in our commu-nity. Rotary clubs do and give so much. Irene Perbal, Mike Spence, Roberta Pickett and more. The float, and all those enthusiastic, happy faces, looked great in the parade.

Larry Angiers shared some photog-

raphy tips, rules of composition to help

make better photos and a few of his trav-

el images from his recent trip to Serbia at

last week’s meeting. Thank you Larry, for

sharing your talents with the club.
