Message from GRW President – Cathy Frederickson

As Paul Ryan shared recently “We fortunately live in a country where the

condition of your birth does not determine the course of your life”. Our

representatives in all branches of government must help us keep America the

Frontier of freedom!

Governor Abbott agrees and requested our participation in the effort to Get Out

The Vote for 2018 to continue to build this beautiful state. It is important that we educate ourselves

about the issues of today. We have solid information to share with others regarding the values

that we hold dear. WE CAN have intelligent discussions by staying informed by experienced leaders

who share our values. We have a state where Faith is appreciated and the Freedom of Religion is

sacred. The movie “God Is Not Dead 2” gives a clear background on an IMPORTANT ISSUE, it is

AN ESSENTIAL RIGHT TO BE able to tell the Truth. A high school history teacher while answering

a question from a student referred to the Bible as well as other references in responding with

accurate statements. Targeted as an opportunity to “Make An Example“ of anyone who would dare

to speak out, the teacher fought for her professional career and reputation. She was sued In a

court of law for crossing a line by using the Bible as a reference. She was making a historical

statement and nearly lost everything she had worked for until the students and people of Faith

stood together to defend her right to speak the truth. The ministers in the community were facing

a similar fate when one refused to turn in his sermons for review. This may have been a movie but

a similar circumstance happened in Houston, Texas recently and was referenced in the movie.

To build a strong America, We must stand together and educate ourselves to fight against those

who would rewrite history. The judges who believe in our Constitution help protect you from the

slide toward bumper sticker slogans instead of exploration of shared values. April is Child Abuse

Prevention Month and one shared value is that Good parenting can prevent Child Abuse as well as

outreach to those under stress who may need one act of kindness to reach back for strength to go

forward in a positive way rather than giving in to the emotional urge to strike out in frustration

and hurt their child. As a member of the Galveston County Children’s Services Board we placed

blue ribbons on the trees at the Galveston Courthouse and the ribbons on the fence in front of the

Del Papa’s Distributing Company represent the 743 children who were reported abused in

Galveston County last year. As we believe in Faith family and freedom. It is our job to stand up for

all children, to offer them a life of hope and opportunity in this thriving country. We must encourage

good citizens as well as good parents.

As we Spring into the Year and learn from our New Texas Supreme Court Justice Blacklock let’s

strive to increase our conversational knowledge of history of the issues and the principles we hold

dear:

Now is the time to invest yourself in your nation and to remember:

WE ARE REPUBLICANS BECAUSE

WE BELIEVE in faith, family and freedom.

WE BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity,

freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

WE BELIEVE that equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity belong to all regardless of

race, creed, age, sex or national origin.

WE BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of

the money they earn.

WE BELIEVE the government is responsible for national defense and that only a strong America

can remain a free America.

WE BELIEVE the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and

successful principles of government.

It is important to share these principles with our families, friends, neighbors, students and fellow

workers. As we do we will probably make new friends who realize that they are not alone but that

they share your values! It is time to be Bold. Bring a Friend to Lunch! Learning can be fun so Take

a moment to read an issue of Imprimis, written by Tom Cotton to learn a well- reasoned

explanation of fair comprehensive immigration Reform (free subscription at Hillsdale College.edu),

review the current events of the week on Townhall with Hugh Hewitt Sunday morning on 1070am

and enjoy clear intelligent talking points on Prager University that you can share to inspire others

to get involved with America. Now is the time to commit to education for the sake of our nation.

May Blessings surround you and yours today and everyday!

God Bless America!
