BackgroundWelcome aboard, Commander. I am Sergeant Bowman of the UnitedEarth Empire. I will be your intelligence adviser throughout this campaign.First, let me give you some background.

As you know, the Antimatter War has left Earth ruined. All of thecontinents have been dissolved into thousands of tiny islands and thecities have washed into the oceans. What’s left of civilization is scatteredacross the islands, or in outer space.

Over the years, we on Earth have banded together for common defenseand trade to form The United Earth Empire. We eventually lost directcontact with the Satellite Colonies. They have had their own series ofwars and alliances over the years.

A few years ago. a blood-thirsty dictator, calling himself Zorgeuf theGreat, emerged to unite the Colonies. Although we have little informationabout Zorgeuf directly, we know that he has been ruthless in his questfor power. Recently, he has made landings on Earth and has set up sev-eral small, but well defended, bases around the globe.

Your MissionHere’s where you come in. You must stop Zorgeuf the Great before hetakes over the world. His commanders are cunning, but you must out-smart them. You must destroy his bases, one island at a time, before hedestroys yours.

At your disposal are the most advanced weapons systems available inthe twenty-third century. From your Command Center, you will controlmissiles, gun pods, interceptor missiles, and. of course, Metal Marines.Always remember that Zorgeuf the Great has the same weapons andwill use them without prejudice.

During the campaign, you will learn to control logistics to ensure that youhave the necessary assets to wage war. You may build factories and

energy plants to improve your position. You may build interceptor radarand lay mine fields to improve your defenses. You may even build yourown antimatter weapon and carry the battle beyond conventional warfare.

Throughout the campaign, however, your primary asset will always beyour Metal Marines. These fifty foot tall fighting machines destroyanything that gets in their way. Depend on them for every battle youwage. Your mission, Commander, is to destroy Zorgeuf the Great, andsave the Earth. Good luck!
