Our summer recreational staff is looking forward to meeting your child and making your child’s experience a memorable one, filled with good times while we renew old friendships and make new ones. We will be located at Moody Elementary School on Country Club Road.Please enter the building through the rear entrance of the café, near the swings and blacktop if you are dropping off your children. We offer seven weeks of summer camp starting June 25th - until August 10th. There is no camp on Wednesday, July 4th, 2018. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer Fazzino and I will be the director of Camp Playtime this summer. I have worked for Middletown Recreation for 12 years. I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet your children and provide a safe and fun summer environment for them.

Lunches and Snacks:

Please pack a snack and lunch daily.

Campers will have a late morning snack during a break from our

program. Lunches will be refrigerated, unless we are on a field trip.

On field trip days please pack lunches with an ice pack.

We encourage campers to bring their own labeled water bottles.

They may carry them around all day to keep themselves hydrated.

Field Trips and Swimming: Your child will be provided with a Rec T-shirt that should be worn on field trip days only. T-Shirts must be worn on field trips so that our campers are easily identifiable in crowded off-site areas. We travel off site twice a week, once for a field trip and once for swimming at Veteran’s Memorial Pool. Every Wednesday we will spend the afternoon at Vet’s Pool. Children can wear their swimsuits to camp under their clothes, but we do suggest bringing a change of clothes as well. On swim days children do NOT need to wear their field trip shirts. Vet’s Pool does not allow any goggles and requires that all floatation devices are Coast Guard approved. All campers are swim tested and each group is monitored by lifeguards and camp staff at all times. Please bring a labeled bottle of sunscreen and a towel! We do NOT provide sunscreen!

Personal Items: Please provide a labeled book bag for your child to bring to camp every day. No electronics, games, cards, or money should be brought to camp. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We have a lost and found area at camp. Parent Transportation: Please do not drop off participants at camp before 9:00 am and please pick them up by 3:00 p.m. sharp. If anyone else is picking up your child that is not on the registration form, we must have a note indicating who is picking up your child; when that individual comes to pick up your child they must provide a valid photo I.D. There is a sign-out sheet for all parent pick-ups that needs to be signed daily when taking your child home from camp. Clothing: During the day, your child will be participating in many fun group activities both inside and outside. Comfortable, play clothes are recommended and as a safety precaution sneakers must be worn every day. On nice, hot days we do use a sprinkler for some water fun. Children will need to bring a bathing suit and change of clothes to participate. Rules:

Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Respect yourself, other campers, and all staff! Keep your hands, feet, objects and belongings to

yourselves. Treat others as you want to be treated.

No swearing, put-downs or bullying. Consequences:

Verbal warning and/or a phone call home If a child misbehaves or endangers him/herself or others,

he/she will receive a disciplinary action form that will be sent home for a parent’s signature. A signed copy must be returned to camp in order for your child to attend camp. If a child receives three write-ups they will be suspended from camp for the duration of the summer. If any participant displays unsafe behavior at camp, they may be suspended from off-site activities. A child may be suspended immediately for a serious behavior incident without a refund.

Health:

A child that has a fever or vomiting cannot return to camp

until 24 hours after symptoms end. You may be asked for a doctor’s note from the camp

director or camp nurse as needed. Please make all allergies known to staff and our

Recreation Office. Miscellaneous:

Please check the Sign-In table for take home announcements. Parents of bus riders, check their book bag for notices.

If your child rides the bus, please note: someone MUST be present to pick up your child upon the bus arrival at drop off time.

There is no camp on Wednesday, July 4th.

Every summer we raise money for various charities. Last year campers raised $300 for The Warm the

Children. We have raised money for Special Olympics, Penguin Plunge, Amazing Grace and the

Trees of Honor. This summer The Recreation Division has chosen to raise money to provide financial

assistance to children who might otherwise not be able to go to camp. The Gracie Ann Wall Foundation founded in 2007 by Camp Great Time Director Linda Wall in memory of her daughter. We’ve been able to send almost 40 children to Middletown’s Recreation camps for one or more weeks. Any amount makes a

difference. Sending a child to camp for just one week will ensure that he or she engages in fun, productive,

and safe activities during summer vacation.
