MILO In2 Cricket / MILO T20 Blast Programmes 2015-2016

Introduction Ivanhoe Cricket Club (ICC) was established in 1906. For just over 100 years, Ivanhoe Park has been the home ground and a focal point for senior cricket in the Ivanhoe area. In season 2015-16, the ICC has a new look and is the result of a merger between the ICC and the East Ivanhoe Saints Cricket Club (EISCC). Through this merger, ICC will re-introduce juniors at the club and develop a management structure and culture that will result in ICC being the club of choice for young boys and girls growing up in the area and wanting to play cricket.

Aim The aim of junior cricket at Ivanhoe Cricket Club is to provide young boys and girls in the Ivanhoe area the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in cricket in an enjoyable, safe and supportive environment.

Objectives The following are the objectives for the ICC with regard junior development:

• Provide a quality training and social environment for young players to develop and enjoy their involvement in cricket,

• Engage in a junior competition for ICC teams that is well managed and caters to young players and families,

• Provides a pathway for junior cricketers to develop their enjoyment of the game from junior to senior level and play in a turf cricket competition at the one club.

• Provide a pathway for junior crickets to achieve their potential in the game to the highest level possible.

• Team Coordination, Coaching and Management

Alan Jones (Club President) will be responsible for Junior Cricket management. He will be assisted by Nicole Hartley (Club Vice-President)

Head Coach and Coordinator for the Juniors will be John MacLeod,

It is envisaged that a number of senior players will be available to provide specialist coaching with the MILO Programme children. ICC welcomes any assistance by parents in running training or match day preparation.

Each MILO Programme requires a Programme Manager to coordinate parental involvement on-field and off-field activities. Ideally one or more of the parents could take this role.

Roles and responsibilities for team managers will be confirmed prior to season commencement.

• Training Location and times.

It is proposed that training will be held one night a week and will be determined by John MacLeod in consultation with parents for the most suitable time and day of the week.

• Match Locations and times: ICC has made a submission to Cricket Victoria that the club (ICC) will host the MILO Programme at Chelsworth Park on Friday evenings (5.30-7.00pm). ICC is awaiting confirmation of this submission. The alternate is that the MILO Programme will be hosted by a neighbouring cricket club in the Kew, Balwyn, Clifton Hill area.

• Should ICC be successful in is submission to host the programme, ICC will provide a BBQ dinner (sausage sizzle) for all MILO programme participants after each match. Parents will be encouraged to be involved in the preparation and running of these social activities.

• Season start and finish dates: In2 Cricket /T20 Blast: Friday 13 Nov (TBC) to Friday 11 Mar 16 (TBC)

• Equipment:

Junior players will only be required to supply their own shoes, socks and shorts for playing matches. ICC shorts are available, along with other club clothing, should parents wish to purchase.

Playing clothing (shirt, and cap are included in subscription fees).

For training, Juniors may wear suitable ‘play’ clothes or may purchase ICC training attire.
