• Ciaran (detective): White shirt, rolled up sleeves, suit trousers, braces. Shows older age group, quiet an traditional way of dressing.

• Setting: • Alley is very dark, scary and sinister. As a

group we chose this because alleys have a representation where crime takes place and is quiet an hostile location. The long alley can suggest that perhaps the antagonist has been going through the whole process for a long time and when the interview arrives it has finally finished.

• Props:• The use of the blood on the gloves creates

more suspense and the audience think about what the character might have done. The effect creates more an tense feeling to the opening.

CAMERA

• Close up: Straight away after the logos there is a close up. This adds mystery and curiosity as the audience does not know who the character is.

• Panning across Ethan’s face with the blue flashing light, his face looks very shocked and quiet surprised by the police. The effect on the audience is that they then know that Ethan has done something wrong. Also the audience are intrigued by the emotions on Ethan's face. This is because stereotypically men are seen heartless and have no emotion however Ethan is defeating this stereotype through the scene.

SOUND EDITING

• Continuity Editing: This is used throughout each scenes. The chronological order of the opening sequence empathizes real-time moving of the narrative. This again gives a sense of realism to the audience.

• Shot reverse shot: This is used in the interrogation scene at the end of the opening sequence. This shows the audiences the emotions on each character's face and can give the audience an idea of how the character is feeling.

• Fades/Dissolving: This is used for the title ‘VENGEANCE’ to appear. I feel it is better for the fluency of the opening sequence instead of having it appear on a blank screen.

• Dialogue: Towards the end there is an introduction to the use of dialogue. This is so it can help the audience picture in their mind perhaps what the rest of the film could entail which the protagonist is involved in. For example because Ethan is being interrogated this can suggest he took part in a crime.

• Non diegetic sound: throughout the majority of the opening sequence there is non diegetic sound of rain, this is either hitting the microphone or on the floor where filming. This has an positive effect on the audience as it gives the opening sequence an increasing sense of realism.

• Diegetic Sound: It may not be clear however there is an emphasises on the breathing, and actions of our characters. For example when Ethan zipping up his jacket. This is diegetic sound.
