TheMission&Ministrygrant isused forOutreach. SuchOutreachshallbeaccomplishedthroughSynodpartnershipwherebyseedorstart-upfundingisprovidedviathisgrantforthe glory of God and His children. It embraces the potential for Multi-CongregationalCollaboration to ensure enduring gifts to the communities they serve now and into thefuture.

2. StoriesshouldincludeanexplanationofhowthegrantwillhelptoincreasethemissionofGod’schurchinthecongregation’sministry,inthecommunitywherethecongregation/ministryislocatedandwhowillbemostaffectedbythegrant.

3. Includeacopyofthecongregation’scurrentparochialreport4. Establishingasignificantneedforaprojectisbasedoncurrentessentialcommunity

8. CollaborationbetweenmultiplecongregationsinthefurtheranceofSundayschooloutreachbroadensthepotentialimpactintendedforthesefunds.Therefore,afterall,sevenoftheaboveinstructionitemsaremet,thehigherrankingwillbeaffordedtomulti-churchgrantrequestsubmittals.

9. Thefundsforgrantswillexpire60daysaftertheSynodAssemblydateofJune3,2017.Itisyourresponsibilitytocashthecheckbeforeitexpires.Oncetheaccountisclosed,allchecksnotpaidwillbecomevoid.

CRITERIA:

1. Applicantmustbeacongregation/ministryoftheSouthwestCaliforniaSynodoftheEvangelicalLutheranChurchinAmerica.

2. GrantrequestmustmeetthepurposeoftheMissionandMinistryEndowmentFund.3. Recipientsmustagreetousethefundsonlyasstatedintheirproposalandwillprovidea

reporttotheSouthwestCaliforniaSynodonorbeforeasubsequentgrantapplicationsubmittal.Ifagrantreportisnotfiled,thecongregation/ministrywillbesuspendedfromtheprogramforthree(3)years.

4. BuildingProjectswillbeconsideredonlyiftherelationshiptothemissionofthecongregation/ministryisclearlyestablished.

5. Salaryassistanceuptoone-thirdofthetotalsalaryforoneyearmayberequested.6. Ifyoureceivegrantfunding,youareencouragedtomakeagifttotheSynod’sMission
