Vision and Mission

Vision : It is defined as an organization’s dream, which it wants to realize in the long run say 5-10 yearstime frame. A dream which; a com any sincerely attem ts to ma!e a reality. "hile it is not necessary toha#e a $ision statement, it ma!es sense to ha#e one so that all efforts, energy and resources get directed inrealizing this $ision. A lying this conce t to an indi#idual’s life, it im lies that each one of us want to seeoursel#es leading a %etter life in future. "hile e#ery%ody’s yardstic! of %etter life would %e different, thefact remains that all e& ect such results. 'or e&am le, arents want to see their son(daughter as successfulin life and attem t to gi#e them education(training accordingly.

Mission : )ission is the ath ta!en to realize the $ision. 'or e&am le if leading a ros erous life aftergraduation is the #ision of arents for their son, mission could %e to get the son admitted in an engineeringcollege so as to realize that #ision.

Explanation : If one does not ha#e a #ision, life is a *ourney led %y circumstances and the results ha#e to %eta!en as the desired outcome. If arents do not communicate their #ision + mission to their daughter, the

ro%a%ility of their daughter ma!ing efforts to get admission in medical college would %e #ague. ot *ustcommunication of #ision and mission %ut understanding + acce ting it is more im ortant. If daughter is notinterested in medical, what moti#ation and dri#e can %e e& ected of her to achie#e that #ision through thatmission imilarly, if each em loyee does not !now an organization’s #ision + mission or does not %elie#ein it, one cannot e& ect internal dri#e among em loyees and synergy in efforts to realize that $ision.

BSNL also has its $ision and )ission statement /re#ised in 00 2 as gi#en %elow:Vision : 3o %ecome the largest telecom er#ice 4ro#ider in Asia.Mission :I. 3o ro#ide world class tate-of-art technology telecom ser#ices on demand at com etiti#e rices.

Comments on BSNL Vision$ision see!s to %ecome the largest 3elecom ser#ice ro#ider in Asia. 3he word largest needs to %eunderstood. Is largest denotes networ!, customer %ase, re#enue, rofit, range of ser#ices ro#ided, num%erof e&changes etc. o dou%t a %alanced growth for all arameters is re6uired.

er cent is li!ely to cross that mar! in ne&t -5 months.In the resent scenario of multi licity of telecom o erators offering an enormous range of %asic and #alueadded ser#ices, an effecti#e mechanism for re#ention of cartelization and unreasona%le tariffs and

rotection of consumer interests has to %e set u . esides this, effecti#e ste s should %e ta!en formaintaining e6uity of resence of ser#ices among all the sections of society irres ecti#e of regionalaffiliations. In other words, ser#ices should not gain concentration in re#enue rich ur%an areas only, %utshould also %e a#aila%le to our rural masses, which constitutes 0C of our nation’s o ulation.9owe#er, the ga %etween ha#es and ha#e-nots is %ig and it has further widened %ecause of ra id growth inthe ur%an areas com ared to a nominal growth in rural areas. "ith o#erall teledensity at a%out 1 er cent,

the teledensity in rural area is a%out er cent com ared to nearly 55 er cent in ur%an areas. 3he ga is.5 times. In 1== it was . @ er cent ur%an and 0.D er cent in rural area i.e. a ga of 1 times."ithin a decade of 3rai’s e&istence, teledensity has grown almost ele#en times from 1.5@ er cent in )arch1== to [email protected] er cent in )arch 00 . In fi#e months thereafter, the teledensity has crossed 1 er cent inAugust 00 , indicating further acceleration in the growth.3he ? 8 'und Administrator is ma!ing efforts to ro#ide su ort for rollouts in rural areas. In identifiedrural areas it is ro#iding su%sidy to o erators who ha#e rolled out their networ!s in rural areas since A ril1, 005. 3he o erators were selected through an o en %idding rocess; whosoe#er 6uoted the lowestsu%sidy got the contract. 3he ayment of su%sidy will continue till )arch 010. In A ril 00 , it alsorolled out another ro*ect which will ro#ide financial su ort to o erators for setting u ,B 1 towers of

0 to @0 meter high in the rural areas. Gach of these towers will %e shared %y three o erators. 3heagreements ha#e %een e&ecuted with the successful o erators selected through o en %idding rocess. 3he

ro*ect is targeted to %e im lemented in =-1 months.

In August this year, all the three ri#ate F ) o erators of <elhi hi!ed their tariff %y 0to D .5 er cent simultaneously to the same le#el. 3rai did not do any thing e&ce t as!ing them certainroutine 6uestions. 3rai should also ensure that the calling from mo%ile to fi&ed lines are not !e t at a higher le#el com ared to mo%ile to mo%ile calls, as has %een noticed in many cases of tariff lans of differento erators. 3he ri#ate o erators are intentionally doing it to cause harm to and )3 , which hasthe ma*ority of fi&ed lines..

In a scenario where a customer is free to choose his telecom o erator among a multi licity of ser#ice ro#iders, each o erator or more recisely, an access ro#ider has its own grou of customers. In order toconnect two customers of different ser#ice ro#iders seamlessly, the corres onding ser#ice ro#iders mustha#e interconnection %etween their res ecti#e networ!s. ince these ser#ice ro#iders are also com etitors,there must %e a a olicy-ma!ing %ody who set the terms /for instance re#enue sharing, Ho standards etc.2of such interconnecti#ity, and a regulatory %ody to o#ersee the im lementation of these olicies andadherence to these olicy standards.
