MONASTERY OF YUSO

MONASTERY OF YUSOThis is one of the two main monasteries in San Millán.Yuso means “abajo”, “down”.

HISTORY OF MONASTERY OF YUSOThe monastery of Yuso was constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries, by the Benedictine monks on the ruins of the 10th-11th century Romanesque Monastery. The monastery was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Now the monastery is a hotel.

Monastery of SusoThis is the second most important monument in San Millán de la Cogolla. Suso means ¨arriba¨, “up”.

The Monastery of Suso was built between the 6th and the 11th centuries.

This monastery is a World Heritage Site, too.
