Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce different results.Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters.Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot.
NEEDLES AND EXTRAS• 1 pair 7.00mm (UK 2) knitting needles or size
needed to give correct tension.
• wool needle for sewing seams.
• 50cm x 50cm cushion insert.
TENSION12 sts and 20 rows to 10cm over moss st, using 7.00mm needles. To work a tension square, using 7.00mm needles, cast on 18 sts. Work 30 rows moss st as for main piece of rug. Cast off loosely. Check your tension carefully. If less sts use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.NOTE - With correct yarn and tension, your handknits will look like our photograph.

RUG MAIN PIECE (make 2)Using 7.00mm Needles and C, cast on 63 sts.Knit 11 rows garter st (1st row is wrong side).Break off C.Using M, Next row – Knit.Beg moss st – 1st row – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.Rep 1st row for moss st until work measures 77 cm from beg, working last row on wrong side. Do not break off M.Using C, knit 12 rows garter st. Break off C.Using M, Next row – Knit.Work in moss st (as before) until work measures 154 cm from beg, working last row on wrong side. Break off M.Using C, knit 11 rows garter st.Cast off loosely knitways.
GARTER STITCH STRIP (make 3)Using 7.00mm Needles and C, cast on 6 sts.Knit in garter st (1st row is wrong side) until strip is same length as main piece, working last row on wrong side.Cast off knitways.
TO MAKE UPDO NOT PRESS. Using a flat seam, join pieces together as follows – garter stitch strip, main piece, garter stitch strip, main piece and then garter stitch strip (see assembly diagram above). Sew in all ends.

FRONT SIDE EDGING (make 2)Using 7.00mm needles and C, cast on 6 sts.Knit in garter st (1st row is wrong side) until strip measures 55cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.Cast off knitways.
TO MAKE UPDO NOT PRESS. Using a flat seam, sew edgings to each side of front piece of Cushion cover. Neatly stitch back piece to front piece along 3 sides inside C edging. Sew in all ends. Place cushion insert inside cushion cover and close opening.
