Closing Bell: BSE Sensex made a new record by closing at 31,309 points, while the Nifty 50 rose 22 points to 9,675. The broader NSE Nifty rose as much as 0.25% to a record high of 9,677.60 before closing at 9,675 points. The benchmark BSE Sensex, too, hit a record high of 31,353.65 before closing at 31,309 points as lenders continued their rally, but gains were capped ahead of a central bank policy meeting this week. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is likely to keep interest rates unchanged at its policy review on Wednesday, but with inflation well below target its policy statement, it is likely to sound less hawkish than when the monetary policy committee last met. Sentiment across the globe was muted after US growth in May missed expectations and after attacks in London killed at least seven people. Meanwhile, oil prices jumped after Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed their ties with Qatar on Monday. Both the Nifty and the Sensex have been on a record-breaking spree in the recent weeks. Lenders were among the top gainers, with Yes Bank rising 1.8%. PC Jewellers shares rise around 11%, while Titan shares are higher by around 17%. BSE Consumer durables index rises by 6.38% to trade at 16641.10 points. Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Adani Ports and ONGC are the top gainers with the scrips rising by 1.89%, 1.26%, 1.26%, and 1.15%, respectively, Shares of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) fell 5% to Rs 59.25. According to ANI, CBI registered a case against Prannoy, Radhika Roy and others for causing an alleged loss to ICICI bank to the tune of Rs 48 Crore. Tata Elxsi Ltd rose 4% to Rs 1,410.70 after the company announced in a notice to BSE that the licensing of its advanced autonomous vehicle middleware platform “AUTONOMAI” to one of the world’s top 5 automotive OEMs for their driverless car R&D. MSP Steel & Power Ltd rose 7.2% to Rs16.45 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has decided to resolve the account under Guidelines for ‘Scheme for Sustainable Structuring of Stressed Assets Scheme (S4A)’ issued by the RBI and decided to forward the restructuring proposal to the Overseeing Committee. Videocon Industries Ltd hits lower circuit for 11th consecutive sessions and it fell 65.2% in this period. The stock was trading at Rs 34.95—a level last seen on 13 August 2004. Reliance Communications Ltd rose 2.2% to Rs 21.10 after Creditors of Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom) have allowed the company to postpone debt servicing payments till December after it presented a restructuring plan involving the sale of its telecom tower business and the spin-off and merger of wireless assets. Textile stocks were trading higher Raymond Ltd rose 2% Arvind Ltd 4%, Century Textile & Industries Ltd 1%, Welspun India Ltd 1%. Auto stocks trading higher. Bajaj Auto Ltd rose 1.2%, Hero MotoCorp ltd 1%, Mahindra & Mahindra 1%, Maruti Suzuki India 0.5%, Tata Motors Ltd 0.4%, Eicher Motors Ltd 0.3%.

News: Premium realty developer DLF Ltd’s woes are far from over as the dull

residential property market continues to weigh on its performance. Even after selling some key assets a couple of years back to trim its borrowings, DLF’s consolidated net debt has surged from Rs22,202 crore in FY16 to Rs25,096 crore in FY17.

Drug firm Zydus Cadila has received the US Food and Drug Administration ’s nod to market Mirtazapine, an anti-depressant, in the American market.

The roll-out of the goods and services tax (GST) from 1 July on the back of information technology systems that will reduce human discretion and chances of corruption will face its first test in August, when millions of invoices filed by businesses and traders will be matched to ensure there is no “tax on tax” on transactions in a seamless market of 1.3 billion people.

The domestic stock market has just entered the elite $2 trillion club and is only the second emerging market after China to boast of a market-cap of this size. A $2 trillion market with very low retail penetration in itself is a feat. But it seems US multinationals are too big for India, or for that matter, its peer BRICS in value terms.

Shares of GVK Power & Infrastructure climbed 6 per cent in Monday’s trade after the company informed stocks exchanges that it has sold its residual 10 per cent stake in Bangalore International Airport to Fairfax India Holdings for Rs 1,290 crore. In a filing to BSE, the company said that the move will help it reduce debt burden and focus on Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports. Following the development, the stock rose 6.06 per cent to hit a high of Rs 6.30 on BSE.

The rupee opened 11 paise up at 64.31 against the US dollar on Monday on account of selling of American currency by exporters. Angel Broking said, "USDINR spot is likely to appreciate on Monday owing to weakness in the US Dollar Index. At present, happenings in the global arena shall keep the traders on a cautious mode.”

A lack of clarity about the size of an expected U.S. fiscal stimulus and China's rapid domestic credit growth are among risks that cloud Asia's economic outlook, a senior International Monetary Fund official said on Monday.

On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 62.11 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 21,206. The S&P500 index advanced 9.01 points, or 0.37 per cent, to 2,439. The Nasdaq Composite index gained 58.97 points, or 0.94 per cent, to 6,305.

Jet Airways India Ltd., the country’s biggest full-service carrier, is in talks to buy 50 narrowbody jets worth at least $5.6 billion on top of a pending order for Boeing Co. 737 Max aircraft, a person with direct knowledge of the plan said.

European stocks headed for the first drop in three days as a selloff in industrial metals weighed on mining shares. The weekend’s terror attack in London couldn’t hold back the pound, which erased a loss to strengthen ahead of the U.K. election.

Shares of the retail companies rallied anywhere between 19 and 2 percent after the final GST rates announced on footwear and apparel were closer to the current tax structure.
