Music Class Supplies Fall 2017
The Art of Piano Tuning • Required textbook: The Piano Book by Larry Fine, any edition. Can be purchased online at sites such as
Amazon.com. Please bring one electronic device compatible with tuning software: tablets or phones
with Android 3.1 or later, or a laptop with Windows Operating System. Tuning software will be provided
by the instructor at no cost. Tuning hammer and mutes will be used; bring your own or borrow from the
instructor at no cost.
Bluegrass Banjo 1 • Please bring your own instrument, two metal fingerpicks, a plastic thumbpick, and a capo (a guitar capo
is fine).
Cajun Music Ensemble • Please bring your own instrument. Instruments include Cajun accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass, scrubboard,
and triangle.
The Conductor’s Art • Optional: if you play an instrument, bring it to class. You may also bring a baton, but it is not required.
Great Composers • No supplies needed.
Guitar 1 • Please bring your own acoustic guitar to class. The instructor will provide study materials.
Guitar: Basic Fingerstyle • Please bring your own acoustic guitar to class. The instructor will provide study materials.
Guitar: Flat Pick Country Style • Please bring your own acoustic guitar to class. The instructor will provide study materials.
Guitar: Jazz Chords and Swing • Please bring your own acoustic guitar to class. The instructor will provide study materials.
Improvising with Only Five Notes • Bring your own portable instrument, pencil, and notepaper. Instructor will provide handouts.
Latin Percussion Instruments • If you have your own instrument, please bring it to class. You may also use instruments provided by the
instructors.

Piano Off the Page 1 • No supplies needed.
Piano Off the Page 2 • No supplies needed.
String Ensemble 1 • Please bring your instrument, rosin, a pencil, and your textbook. Optional: You may also want to bring
extra strings, a tuner, metronome, mute, and shoulder rest (violin, viola) or endpin holder (cello, bass).

locally at Ward-Brodt Music or Heid Music and online at retailers such as Amazon.com.
