Masthead ideas…

Here, I have used the liquefy tool to make the text larger and smaller in specific parts.

Images taken from google images – cassette tape for logo/icon.

Placing the cassette image behind the text can be a logo or icon for the masthead/magazine.

By using the liquefy tool I was able to change specific parts of the text to be smaller or bigger.

Cover Image

Changing the curves enabled me to get a darker image which looks intriguing and appears indie-like for a magazine, which draws the target audience (indie) to the magazine.

However I’m not sure if I would like to use this image as the photography itself isn’t that good…

Masthead with cover image

I don’t like this choice of masthead because the text looks too modern and bold/3D like. I wanted something more subtle.

I decided I no longer lied this image and it wasn’t appropriate for my target audience so I replaced it with this. I then added a blue filer on top by having a new layer, selecting the box tool, drew a box over the image and filled it blue with the bucket tool. I then changed the opacity so you could actually see the image.

FRONT COVER LEAD LINE

COVER LINE

By using the text tool I was able to write my lead line, I chose the font Orator because it looked like a type writer and had a stylish twist to it!

I also have a blue filter on top of my lead image, this was to tone down the image and add some grungy effect.

With my masthead, I decided I wanted it to be like vogues where it gets covered by the model. I selected the head, with the magnetic tool, opened a new layer and pasted it on top of the old layer and moved this so it would be over the text.

All the text was written with the text tool and lined in a certain position for example, left.

I chose to have the lead line in the middle of the cover as it’s eye catching and I got this idea from Notion magazine.
