AuComs MVS medium voltage so tstar ters are an integrated solution or motor control and protection. MVS so tstar ters combine advanced so t start andso t stop unctionality with extensivemotor and system protection, plus auser- riendly inter ace and completecommissioning diagnostics.

MVS so t starters provide integratedmotor starting and monitoring unctionsor the most demanding industrial situations. Advanced algorithms ensure ultra-smooth starting and stopping, and ully adjustable protection eatures maximiseelectrical and mechanical protection or your motor and system. A large- ormatdisplay and detailed per ormance logsmake setup and operation simple.

MVS so t starters are available in either IP42 or IP54 panels, with options or line and bypass contactors, earthingand isolation switches. AuCom can alsodesign and build panels to meet particular specifcations, and we o er ull applications engineering support at all stages o thedesign process. For customers whopre er to build their own panels, MVS so tstar ters can be supplied in IP00 ormat or as a kit or local assembly.

MVS so t starters have been installed inhigh-pro le locations worldwide. By integrating motor protection with so tstar t and so t stop control, the MVSprovides a simple and cost-e ectivesolution or most major applications.

    AIR INSUlATION

The MVS incorporates extra eatures to

ensure personnel sa ety when workingin the MV environment. Air insulationassures long-term reliability. The MVS hascommunication between the low voltagecontroller and the high voltage power assembly via bre-optic cables, or complete electrical isolation. Enclosedunits designed by AuCom includeadditional physical isolation and sa ety interlocks, or maximum sa ety.

    BUS BAR ISOlATION

Tinned bus bars on the MVS so t starter are located at the rear o the panel.Barriers isolate cables rom bus bars toallow inspection o cabling.

    PANEl CONSTRUCTION

MVS panels eature bolted construction to prevent unintentional access. Thisensures that covers may only be removedwith very deliberate actions. This also

    removes the need or mechanicalinterlocking.

    ByPASS TERMINAlS

Retains motor protection and monitor-ing unctions even when the starter isbypassed.

    PROTECTION

A wide range o protection eatures

ensure your equipment can operate sa ely in the most demanding environments. Each protection can be individually adjusted to the required sensitivity, or can be disabled i required to ensure vitalequipment continues to operate even in

    the most challenging si tuations.

    AdVANCEd THERMAl

    MOdEllINg

    Intelligent thermal modelling allows the

so t star ter to dynamically calculatemotor temperature to predict whether

the motor can success ully complete astar t. The MVS uses in ormation romprevious and upcoming starts to calculate

the motor temperature to predict themotors available thermal capacity.

    THERMAl CAPACITy

The thermal model will only permit astar t which is predicted to succeed. This

protects the motor against overloadswhich shorten the motor li e.

    TRIPS

Trips and warnings are written toan eight-place trip log, together within ormation on motor and system statusat the time, speeding up analysis o problems.

    PASSWORd PROTECTION

    A multi-level password system provides

security or parameter adjustments whilestill allowing users ull access to the many metering unctions.

    COMMUNICATION MOdUlES

The MVS integrates into your existingmonitoring and control network, usingeasy-to-install plug-in communicationinter aces. The MVS supports Pro bus,DeviceNet and Modbus RTU protocols.Communication modules are an optionalextra.

    FIBRE OPTICS

Electrical isolation o low and highvoltage circuits is assured by a two linebre-optic inter ace between the power assembly and the control module. Thisbre-optic link simpli es installation o chassis mount MVS units into customswitchboards.

    COMMISSIONINg

    AuCom makes medium voltage installation

and commissioning simple withoutunnecessary interruption to your normaloperation. For minimal disruption, theMVS incorporates extensive operatingsimulations and allows the starter tobe tested with a low voltage motor, tocon rm circuit integrity and identi y any errors be ore ull commissioning. Aswell as a comprehensive run simulations,

the MVS can simulate each protection to ensure the starter is signalling asexpected and interacting correctly withassociated equipment.

    SOFTWARE SIMUlATIONS

The simulation unction allow the MVS to be tested without a motor connected, to con rm that the so t s tar ters controlcircuits are operating correctly. There are

    three simulation modes available :

Run simulation: simulates a motor star ting, running and stopping tocon rm correct con guration o mainand bypass contactors, bre-opticcontrols, programmable relays andmotor control signals.

Protection simulation: simulatesactivation o each protection mechanism

to con rm that the so t star ter isresponding correctly in each situation.

Signalling simulation: simulates outputsignalling to con rm con guration.

    p - . t mvs g , z .

    lOW VOlTAgE TESTINg

The MVS can be connected to a lowvoltage motor ( 500 VAC) or testing. This allows the user to thoroughly test

the so t starter and its associated power and control circuits. The low voltage testmode provides a means o testing the so tstar ters con guration without requiring aull medium voltage test acility.

    dIRECT ON-lINE

    Many customisable MV units are

equipped with a DOL eature. This allowsDOL motor operation in the event o ailure to maximise uptime during repair.

    AFTER SAlES SERVICE
