My Hands

My name is Kai

I am 5 years old

I live with (insert names of people here)

I like to play (insert games Kai likes to play here – 4 or 4)

This is my body

I have 2 eyes For seeing and looking

2 ears for listening

A mouth for talking and eating food

A nose…for smelling

I have 2 hands too.

My hands are used for lots of things.

Sometimes people use their hands for hitting! This isn’t a good idea.

It can make people feel sad or angry if I use my hands for hitting.

Instead I can use my hands for other things…

I can use my hands for writing and colouring

For throwing and catching

I can use them for sticking and cutting

For painting

I can show my friends I like them by giving high 5’s and waving too!

Hands are used for hugging too!

When I do this EVERYONE is happy!

Mummy will catch me using my hands for doing all these great things.

When she catches me doing it she might tell me “well done using your hands for throwing the ball”.

If I use my hands for hitting, mummy will have to make me go on time out. This means that I have to sit on the time out seat for 5 minutes. I can’t play with my games or toys when I am on time out.

I will try my best to use my hands to play nicely and do good things!

EVERYONE WILL BE SO HAPPY AND PROUD OF ME WHEN I USE MY HANDS NICELY!
