Letter From The Chief Editor

I am delighted to welcome you to the launch of "myFASHIONdirect Magazine" an e-magazine published by myFASHIONdirect Publications, a division of

myFASHIONdirect Media Group. I wish to extend my gratitude to the Associate Editors and Contributing Writers as well as the members of the Editorial Board

as they are the backbone of this creative endeavor. We could not envision starting this e-magazine without the support and professionalism of artists

interested in creating a public global canvas for artists and wishing to make this creative project a success.

I would like to emphasize the compelling reasons for launching a new open-access talent global forum, as well as our aspirations and vision for the future. I believe that it is important to have a talent global forum which gives free access to its contents and promotes inspiring stories and passionate output of artists

of all spectrum's who have limited access to main stream public forums. We aim to bridge the gap so that authors get a wider audience for their discovery of talent on a global scope. This is particularly true for artists of all spectrum's

whose first language is not English. Thus we will work in partnership with such authors to ensure that their coverage of stories is made available to the wider

global community.

I believe we will be publishing a significant number of new and upcoming talent articles and many talent reviews from authors around the world.

Because we want to cover various topics, we therefore welcome good writers and/or reporters from across the world that may embody similar values; and are

willing to uphold our mission and our vision on being YOUR Stage, YOUR News, YOUR World.

The e-magazine invites submissions in the areas of Fashion(in all forms), Travel, Styling, Entertainment, Lifestyle, and Industry Research. – a broad-

based theme that should appeal to the largest possible audience interested in this subject. I look forward to a successful first year for myFASHIONdirect

Magazine and welcome any comments or suggestions you may have that would improve the e-magazine.

Page 14: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

Javier Ortiz was born in Lima Peru South America in the mid 1960's. He came to the U.S. as a teenager, graduated from High School, went to College and graduated from Santa Monica College with an AA Degree in Architectural Interior Design. He also holds a degree in Set Design, Art Direction for Film and Television, and Photography with a specialization in High Fashion. Javier Ortiz is a man of all traits. He is a Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Model, Actor, Designer, and Photographer. Aside from having a passion for photography and modeling, he also has another side which is sports. Javier tells us, “I learned how to swim when I was kid, by the age of nine I was already competing in the South American Championships. I learned so many Sports such as Tennis, Swimming, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball, Cycling, Track and Field, Tae Kwon do, Gymnastics, Basketball and Artistic Skating. Just to give you an idea of whom I am, I had been Swimming four styles professionally for over 40 years and I had represented the state of California at National Championships, winning bronze, silver and gold medals. While training Volleyball I was in the Team that put Beach Volleyball into the Summer Olympics with other athletes from all over the world

.

Page 15: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

Learned Tae Kwon Do and I am a black belt. When it came to Track and Field, it was a challenge because I was told that I was to short, I am 5.10 height, but training properly did not stop me of learning hurtles and make it to Nationals. Gymnastics had been a very strong part of my life as well, learning the flexibility enough to compete. My forte is Artistic Skating and the best coaches of the US had trained me. Which made proud to be a State, National and World champion. This includes Ice Skating, Roller Skating and In Line Skating. Due to the fact of the use of Choreography I had learned many dances, such as Ballet, Flamenco, Tango, Samba and many other International Latin Dances, which made me pursuit many competitions as well.”

So,What are some of your short-term goals with your talent? “As a Model I personally would love

to train other Models and pass on my knowledge for them to

succeed. “

What are some of your long-term goals with your talent? “I

am a Professional Photographer as well and have my own studio

so now I would like to own a Management Co. for Actors and

a Modeling Agency for Models of all ages.”

What inspired your talent? “I guess my Bio could explain

that.”I love and believe in natural light. People see me

shooting all over Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown LA, Malibu, Laguna Niguel, etc.

As a Professional Photographer my goal is to make you look

your best, get who you really are naturally by catching that

special shot by my photography always keeping in mind

elegance with simplicity.......

Page 17: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

To me Photography is artistry without limits. Although my forte is High Fashion, I am very creative and love shooting other projects such as Glamour, Artistic Implied/Nude, Fitness, Sports, Swimsuits, Editorial, Erotic, Fetish, etc. My father was a Professional Photographer for many years. He loved Photography. I feel personally blessed for sharing his Photography knowledge with me. I was about seven years old when he started teaching me Photography. The first camera I learned how to use was an Agfa 1:6, 3/105, then I learned how to use Kodak's, Minolta's, Canon's, etc, from 35mm, 110 mm, slides, Polaroid's, etc. He was a native Peruvian Indian from an upper class family that owns vineyards in ICA, which is a state just south of Lima.”

Page 18: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

My mother was a housewife but she had a degree in Fashion Merchandising and she worked for Mc Call's Pattern Co. in Lima. She had passion for High Couture Fashion because she learned French Couture Sewing when she was young. She was Spaniard-Peruvian.I guess I got the Photography from my father and the Fashion from my mother.

I also became a Fashion Model in the mid 1980's, had done Runways, Modeling Print Work, TV Commercials, Music Videos, Films, etc. The experience of being a Model and living in Hollywood for a long time had made me a stronger Photographer who knows Fashion Photography well.

So, Javier, how has your talent impacted your life? “I Became very successful by being well educated and accomplished many goals throughout these years, in the Architectural industry I had designed 5 Star Hotels in many continents, As a Producer and Director I had done many short films and now I am doing feature films. As a Model I had a blast by Modeling for very well known brands including private labels and my career as an Actor is slower due to the amount of work I do but still acting, I do it well because I come from Theater and I had been well trained.”

Do you think your talent has inspired others? If so, how?“As a Photographer I had inspired other Photographers, which wanted to experience the Fashion World that is, complete different that other type of Photography. As a Producer/Director I collaborate with others helping each other and as a Model I had trained many people that thought they could not get into the Modeling business by height, ethnicity, age, etc…proving them wrong. Many of them have their Portfolios out there signing up with different agencies” .

Page 19: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

What are some of the experiences you have had with your talent? As a Photographer I had so many wonderful experiences with

incredible professional people, for example I met an Actor who needed head shots, I suggested that he should do some Modeling as well he worked very hard with me after eight months got a job in a

Musical and got signed with a top Modeling Agency. But I also have some bad experiences by running into fake managers,

agents that try to fool people by portraying who they are not.

As a Producer/Director I worked with professional people creating my own Production Co. That tells you that there are wonderful good

people around. But they are other stories such as an Actor whose ego went to the roof and in several meetings he was very disrespectful

and unprofessional so I had to let him go.

As a Model I had great people around me that believe in my work, one day a top Photographer from Europe saw my Website, he like one of

my male models, asking me his contact information. Well I replied is me! I photograph myself with a timer, he thought I was in Europe, I told him that I was in Hollywood, and he booked over the phone. In

other cases I notice that some Models do not have the experience and expect to make money over night, unfortunately it takes time, besides

is very competitive.

In Acting you find from wannabes to professionals, in my case I had been lucky by keeping myself at a high level with good positive people

that love what they do, but every now and then you run into prima donnas. To me there is not time for that and the show must go on.

Page 20: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

What are some of the projects you have worked or have been apart of in the past? “As I mention before I had been Modeling all this time, had done Music Videos, Runways, Print Work, Short Films, Editorial Work, Movies, Theater, Dancing, Filming, Directing, Shooting, etc. What are some of the projects you are looking into working in the near Future? “To produce and direct more films but also to continue with my Photography.”

Do you have any advice for those who are trying to succeed in thisIndustry? “As a Professional Photographer I would advise other photographers to explore different areas of photography always admiring or being inspired by others vs. copying somebody else's work, be creative. As an Architectural Designer also be creative and keep up with the latest architectural programs to keep up with the industry and always practice. As a Producer/Director always network you never know who you will be working with and be open to new ideas, also have lots of respect for the new generation that are our future. As a Model please be aware that this is a very serious career that takes time to conquer, be patient, remember that your Portfolio should have a large variety of looks including different seasons and locations, be photograph by many photographers is possible, and keep in mind that is expensive. Also do not forget that this industry is very competitive. As an Actor please never stop, I know is hard, many of you are working two jobs and need to find time to go to auditions, take small parts and network as much as you can, you could be the next big Star!

Born in Los Angeles, CA. An artist since the age of three, Paris is multi talented in the area of dance, acting, and modeling. She is currently attending LA Trade Tech and majoring in fashion design. When she is not pursuing her passion for the arts, she is pursuing her passion

to helps animals in need. Her career began at the age of 3

through dance. She is trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz,Hip-Hop, and Lyrical. She began modeling at the age of 15. Recently she has also pursued a career in acting.

Paris tell us why did you pursue a career in modeling, dance, acting?"No matter how strict modeling can be I love the art of it. I myself am an artist. As a child and even now I've struggled with depression and Anxiety, amongst other things. I learned to express myself through dance and as I got older I found other outlets. Not only do I think modeling, acting and dancing are my outlet but Fashion Design, and styling too. It's therapy to me and I enjoy it."

What inspired you as an artist? "Anything and everything. Music, fashion, movies.

I think starting off as a dancer really is what got me started though."

What are some of your short-term goals with your career? " I'm in the process of trying to find the right Agency to represent me."

What are some of your long-term goals with your talent? "I would love to be able

to make a living off of my talent.

As of right now I'm living in Rowland Heights but I'm planning on moving to Los Angeles so it'll be easier for me to work everyday."

Page 23: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

Has your talent impacted your life? "I love it. It's what I look forward todoing. I think it's made me a better person. I've gone through manystruggles in my life that have dug me into holes but my talent has

always inspired me to climb my way out. "

Do you think your talent has inspired others? If so, how? "Yeah I thinkso. I'm always getting messages from girls on Facebook asking how to

become a model, or advice on modeling and in life in general. They alsotell me that they look at me for Fashion inspiration. It's a really nice

touch to what I do."

When it comes to experiences, Paris tells us " I've had many. I've hadgood and bad. There's always going to be the creeps and the divas. Or

the photographers that are too cocky for their own good. Lol. I just takeall of it as lessons on how to conduct myself."

As a model, actress, and dancer, Paris has accomplished much. Paristells us, " Some of the brands I've worked with are Desipah clothing,

Chrissy clothing, Maddox leather, Risen Ink clothing and Leg Avenue. As far as acting goes, I've done a few commercials and music videos. I

also was in a short film called 'Are there Women on Keplar?'. One of mybiggest achievements with dancing was getting to take a Summer

Intensive program for Joffrey Ballet. I lived in New York for the summerof '07. I danced Monday through Saturday from 8am until the early

evening. I've also performed half time for The Avengers at The StaplesCenter and I've done various performances at Knots Berry Farm

throughout my childhood."

What are some of the projects you have worked on or been apart of?"In the past two years I've done a lot of runway. I think I got lucky

because I'm actually a really petite model. Normally I think the minimumfor runway is like 5'7 or 5'8. I'm 5'3. And I got to do some catalog work

for Leg Avenue. Those are some of my best accomplishments."What are some of the projects you are looking into working in the near

future? "Lots of Desipah and I'm about to start working with a brandcalled Illogic. That should be super fun. Oh and expect a lot more acting

from me."

When it comes to advice, do you have any advice for those who are trying to succeed in this industry? "It gets really tough. There's more rejection than anything else. Everyone is always looking for something specific and if you're not what they are

looking for never take it personally. Just keep moving along and don't give up."

Oni defines herself as an individual who is determined, focused and strives to be better every time. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she holds an AA degree in fashion design. Her interests include all things in fashion, including sketching, sewing, designing, fashion related films, fashion magazines, etc. She also likes tennis, writing, traveling, music and almond milk lattes.

Oni is the designer and creator of ONIKAI, a contemporary cut n’ sew line for women, based out of Los Angeles. ONIKAI specializes in unique, yet distinguished clothing that is easy to wear and intriguing in silhouettes.

We asked Oni what some of her short term and long term career goals were and this is what she had to say “Right now post fashion week, my expanding of the lines following, launching the look book film that premiered for fashion week online and getting it into a film festival, solidifying the ONIKAI team and securing a solid business plan for the end of the year, are my primary focuses. When it comes to future goals,I try not to project far into the future because I’ve learned that in life things can change so drastically day to day, but with ONIKAI ideally, I strive to maintain a fluent and solid presence as a clothing line and as a designer in a prosperous way. Beyond that, the possibilities are endless.”

Page 26: myFashiondirect Magazine US Edition Debut Issue

We asked Oni what her inspiration for being a designer was and this is what she had to say “Being a designer keeps me in check with who I really am as a person. That inspires me more than anything.” When asked if her talent has inspired others, if so how, this is what Oni had to say “After my last fashion week event, someone I had never met before told me that they hadn’t felt inspired post a fashion week event in Los Angeles, in a long time. They told me that they had felt really inspired after my runway show and film and they were going to go home and create something. For me that was all the validation, I ever needed, because strive to inspire other people just as much as I love when I meet other people who inspire me.” We asked Oni if being a designer has impacted her life in any way, this is what Oni told us “My talent has changed my life drastically. I push to one-up myself constantly, which might be a part of my personality regardless. However on a creative scale, I think it’s a little bit different because you strive to connect with people aesthetically and emotionally, which is more difficult than trying to relate to someone in a much more surface level. I also think that I allow myself to be inspired daily by very little things; coffee, the beach, people, conversation, love notes, music..”

When it comes to experiences, Oni has had some great experiences. When we asked Oni about them, this is what she had to say “ I’ve had amazing experiences with and because of talent. I’ve made some of the best friend’s I’ve ever had for years working and designing for other larger corporate design companies. I had the honor of working with AEG as well as some well known design houses in my fashion show for my line at the EL Rey Theater for a Charity fashion show. I’ve had the joy of numerous projects, shoots, costumes and creations because I allowed myself to be open to these things.” As far as projects, Oni says she’s dedicated to ONIKAI and opened to things that life bring her way.

Projects 2012:

“RUNAWAYS” Film Directed By ONIKAI Productionshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR6VPeBh5iQ

In her years as a designer, Oni has learned a few life lessons, Oni tells us “Well in specific regards to being a designer, I would say that make sure your heart is in it 110%, because if it is not, I don’t think you will succeed. I really believe that you have to love your craft more than you have yourself sometimes; in this industry that’s what it takes to beat the odds.”
