MARINE & OFFSHORE CONSTRUCTION

KHALIFA BIN SALMAN PORT & INDUSTRIAL AREA AT HIDD

Planning, design and construction of Phase I of a new deep water port together with around 700 hectares of reclamation to provide a corridor for the Port access roadway and an area for industrial development. In Phase I, the basic infrastructure was provided over approximately one third of the maximum area that was reclaimed for industrial use.

ASRY has awarded the Design and Build contract for the construction of a 1,380-metre quay wall to Bahrain-based Nass Contracting. The $80 million contract comprises the construction of a 1,200m quay wall, with a waterdepth of up to 12m, designed to receive 300,000 DWT vessels as well as a 180m berth for 40,000 DWT vessels.The quay wall, which will have the first 400m delivered by end of next year, will be fully operational by the end of2011. It will be equipped with all services, utilities, and drainage required for providing efficient alongside repairs.The project also includes the construction of all support facilities and infrastructure necessary to ensure a highlevel of reliability for ASRY.

DURRAT AL BAHRAIN - BRIDGES The Contract comprises construction of thirteen concretebridges on the prestigious 20km2 Durrat Al BahrainDevelopment, to provide general vehicular access betweenthe individual islands within the overall development with atotal length of 3.5 km. Six bridges to connect the Petals withthe main Crescent and six others will connect the Petals withthe Atolls. One bridge will connect with the hotel island.Const. of walkways promenades between the island. Thelongest bridges are 520m, the shortest bridges 162m and thebridges to hotel 373m. the width of the bridges is 14.5m andthe span of the bridges are 16.2m. These rest on piles of1.2m diameter each.

General description of works:The construction of 13 major concrete bridges, with acombined deck span length of 3.3.km.Works at the bridges comprise of the following:Filling for access requirements, bored and cast insitureinforced piling, reinforced concrete pier beams and bridgesubstructures, pre-cast post tensioned deck slabs, parapets,sidewalks, service tunnels, waterproofing, asphalting,abutments, wing walls, approach slabs, channel dredging,and scour protection.

ALBA JETTY

Design and construction of jetty head, access bridges and conveyor support in precast/insitu deck on steel substructure and tubular steel piles.

The design and construction of an offshore jetty head (226 x 21 metres) in 15 metres water depth, connected to an existing causeway by a 520 metre long cross water combined road access/conveyor support structure and by a further 2500 metre long cross water conveyor trestle to the urea plant facility. The Sub contract was challenging in both technical and programme aspects. The marine civil work consisted of a delivery and marine loading facility for bulk and bagged urea product. This new marine terminal can take ocean-going ships capable of carrying 60,000-ton cargo and is connected to the Urea Production facility by a 3.3km conveyor system.

ROADS, BRIDGES

ISA TOWN GATE INTERCHANGE FLYOVER

Upgrading the Isa Town Gate Junction roundabout to a Grade-separated junction with an Overpass / Underpass structure and signalized junction at grade with all utility arrangements. Relocating the existing landmark structure.

Works include - underpass structure, access roads, Street Lighting, Drainage System, Major diversion schemes and 66/220kV power transmission.
