CURRENT FRESHMEN & your parents--
Career Assessment for Freshmen: The CareerScope assessment measuring both interests and aptitudes was
administered earlier this year through World Geography classes. The results have been uploaded into Naviance for
your convenience to view online. A hard copy was handed to you in the lab on the day that you took CareerScope.
Please keep in mind that CareerScope merely provides an analysis of your career interests and skills at this point in
time. Results include a range of careers for each student from those requiring the lowest skill set to careers which
require more education. The ability to view your results in Naviance will give you access to possibilities that match
your career interests and aptitudes and offer suggestions for further exploration through coursework in school.
Purposeful Planning: Four Year Planning has also taken place through World Geography and your plan was
automatically saved in Naviance when you entered it during the lab portion of this process. You may use the
information from your CareerScope and four year plan to guide you in changing your four year plan as well as
classes for next year.
Career Counseling: Mrs. Keith, your DHS Career Counselor, is available to meet with you and your parent to
interpret your career assessment and provide career counseling for goal setting and course selection purposes. She
can also help you with updating or creating your four year plan. You may reach her at 940-369-2020 or
[email protected]. Students in other grade levels (10-12) who missed the opportunity to take CareerScope can
arrange to take this assessment with Mrs. Keith as well.
