It is a four-year program, where students graduate with two degrees — an associate degree and bachelor of science degree in nursing. GTCC is the home school for the first three years of the program. Students will be enrolled in both GTCC and NC A&T for the first three years of the program, taking the majority of the coursework at GTCC. Classes with NC A&T are online for the first three years. Students can work as a nurse after year three of study after successfully passing the NCLEX-RN (national licensure examination). Year four of the program is completed entirely online through NC A&T. RIBN Ready?

The NCP RIBN program is a dual-enrollment collaborative between Guilford Technical

Community College and North Carolina A&T State University. The RIBN program is a

four-year program that allows students to complete both an Associate Degree

and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

RIBN Program Sequence

Year 1: Student completes general education courses at GTCC

Years 2 & 3: Student completes an Associate Degree in Nursing at GTCC and is eligible upon graduation

to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN®)

Year 4: Student completes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at NC A&T State University

The first three years of the program are offered at GTCC’s Main Campus in Jamestown, and students may be

required to travel to NC A&T while enrolled in the program.

Students involved in the NCP RIBN program are subject to the academic calendar for GTCC and NC A&T during

the dual enrollment period. Regulations, procedures, and course requirements are subject to change as necessary

and without prior notice. Year four is completed entirely at NC A&T.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Since students apply to both GTCC and NC A&T, they must meet the Phase 1 Minimum Admission Requirements

for both schools by March 1, 2019.

Complete the GTCC Admission and NC Residency Determination Process

Meet the UNC Minimum Course Requirements (MCR)

Four units of English, emphasizing grammar, composition, and literature

Four units of mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Advanced Math)

Three units of science (Biological Science, Physical Science, and a Science with a Lab)

Two units of social studies, including one unit of U.S. History

Two units of the same language other than English

Meet the SAT or ACT Score Requirement

SAT combined score of 1010 (tests taken March 2016 and beyond) or 930 combined math and verbal (tests taken prior to March 2016). Tests taken prior to March 2014 will not be accepted.

ACT composite score of 20.

Meet the Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement

Current high school students and those with less than 24 hours of college credit must have an unweighted cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in high school courses.

Students with 24 or more hours of college credits must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in college coursework with grades no lower than a “C” in all courses.
