ABOUT NEBOSH The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1979 as an independent awarding body attracting 15,000 candidates each year. It has a solid, professional reputation and is the leading body of its kind in the United Kingdom and Europe. NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety This is an internationally recognized higher level qualification for health and safety practitioners. It is an award respected by employers and provides the holder with the core professional knowledge needed to build a career in health and safety. This qualification meets the academic requirements for corporate membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. (IOSH) and allows award holders to use the designatory letters ‘Dip’ after their names. Course Delivery Comprehensive user-friendly training material. Training includes a variety of training methods such as formal lectures, discussions, practical exercises and informal group- work. Continuous evaluation of students course work. Duration and Venue Two (2) Academic years - The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine - College of Health Environmental and Safety Studies, San Fernando. - Mayaro Resource Centre For Whom is the Programme designed? This programme is designed for health and safety professionals who require a high degree of managerial and technical competence to advise on effective management of risk across the range of employment sectors – including those where complex and high level risks pose a threat to life and/or the organization. What can I benefit from the programme? On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:- Deal competently with most safety and health Problems Know where to obtain specialist expertise. Hold a responsible position in a Health & Safety Department. Operate as a health and safety Adviser Entry Requirement NEBOSH National General Certificate Diploma (local) in Occupational Health and Safety Associate Degree in related studies First/Second Degree in Related Studies Other relevant qualifications and/or experience Course Content Preparatory Unit: Core Skills-Communication Skills and Training Skills Unit A: Managing Health and Safety Unit B: Hazardous Agents in the Workplace Unit C: Workplace and Work Equipment Unit D: Assignment: Application of health and safety theory and practice Assignment A workplace-based assignment (Unit D) is set up by NEBOSH and marked externally. This assignment brief is designed to test knowledge across the breadth of the National Diploma syllabus. Students would receive adequate guidance relating to NEBOSH requirements for completion of this assignment. Fees Available upon request. National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health This Certificate was launched to provide formal training for those people involved with health and safety in the workplace. With health and safety legislation constantly changing and in most developing countries, being introduced, the role of the safety professional has become far more complex. Our class sessions are designed to take into consideration those who may not have prior knowledge and or experience in health and safety. Passing the written and practical assessment exams will also give you a widely recognized certification, which is a pre- requisite unto the NEBOSH Diploma. Mr. Noel Thomas - FIOSH, RSP, FRIPHH, MASSE An internationally recognised Occupational Health & Safety Consultant who has worked as a Safety Practitioner with the Royal Air Force for over 25 years.
