The lit beacon should be visible from at least five counties!Lighting will be at approximately 8.15pm - dusk. The Mayor of Caistor , Cllr Carol MacKenzie & Chairman of West Lindsey Cllr Angela Lawrence will light the beacon.The beacon will be sited on the vacant site between the former Montessori School & the houses. we are grateful to Jonathan Gibbons of Holton Estates for permission to use the site, as we are to Hansard Haulage who will be placing the Christmas tree block to safely seat the beacon. At the centre of the village is the community centre comprising two buildings, the larger of which is the former Sergeants Mess, now housing a licensed bar, a theatre and a multipurpose room and on the upper floor, a fitness and dance studio.

CLAXBY • ST MARY Saturday & Sunday7th - 8th May. On a site at the foot of the Wolds, used from pre-Roman times, there has been a church here since at least 1300. Much restored from1870 but with 14th and 15th century features. A grand Jacobean monument, good modern and Victorian stained glass. A ring of five bells, medieval and Victorian. A rich living until the mid 20th century, it attracted a number of eccentric priests. Come and hear about ourracy rectors! Exhibition about Claxby ironstone mine. Cakes and plants for sale. WALESBY • ST MARYSaturday & Sunday7th - 8th May. An ‘arts and crafts’ Church designed by Irish architect, Temple Moore that came about by the efforts of the Rev. Perceval Laurence, Rector of Walesby 1879-1913. Shortly after the rector came to the parish, the inconveniently sited All Saints Church was virtually abandoned and for over 30 years the people of Walesby worshipped in a ‘temporary’ iron building in the village. Work began on 6th June 1913 and on that very day, the 84 yr old, Rev Laurence died. Built from the designs of James Wyatt, esq. and completed under his direction in 1794, its form is that of a Grecian temple of the peripteral kind; the colonnade consists of twelve fluted doric columns, which stand upon a rusticated basement about fifty-two feet diameter, these support a bold entablature, the frize of which is highly enriched with festoons of roses, sun-flowers and poppies.This walk also takes in the woodland, temples and hermitage and includes a packed lunch. FESTIVAL 8 at CABOURNE PARVA Friday 15th Jul 2016 - Monday 18th Jul 2016Festival 8 is a celebration. A celebration of the senses. A coming together of like minded souls to share, connect and participate in many entertainments for the heart, body and soul. From beautiful sights to engaging sounds, from body tingling dance to tantalising tastes. Food for the mind, sustenance for the heart and inspiration of the spirit. Featuring: Bruce Barthol, Roz Bruce Infusion, Tenfoot Ukes, Siknotes , Experimental Sonic Machines, Hallouninati, Seas of MirthParticipation is the key that will open many of the delights of this festival…… from workshops to walkabouts, joining in will be part of the fun. We want people to really feel that this is their festival, one they can join in with and even influence with a Sunday Afternoon forum to meet with the organisers! The fun begins on Friday 15th July 2016 and goes through until late Sunday 17th July. There is a small closing ceremony on Monday Morning.( We recommend you arrange to leave work early on the Friday and have Monday off work!) This is a quality family festival providing boutique facilities and tent loads of entertainment. If it rains, no problem we will have it covered! There will be things to do for younger ones as well as plenty of entertainments for older children. For the big kids (adults) there will be a diverse line up of music, cabaret, art, talks, poetry, theatre and many other interactive entertainments including a giant maze! Many of Friday and Saturdays workshops will be focused around creating decorations, instruments, costumes, learning dance moves and percussion rhythms, enabling you to become part of the spectacular Festival 8 parade that winds its way around the festival leading to a performance, fireworks and lighting of the sacred fire. This is a boutique festival with a desire to find people who really know how to join in and celebrate the senses. Set in a magical grove of yew, beech & ash, Festival 8 is small enough to be very friendly, but with lots of things going on that you would expect find at larger festivals. The Party Barn offers an often warm and always dry place to enjoy the music and sample from the bar, including real ales and ciders. The Circus Big Top, the home of the Earthbound Misfits our resident 'Cirque du Misfit'; they will be letting us use it for our main stage as well as running a number of workshops and walk about fun….. keep your eyes peeled for these guys! The Woodland Stage set under a tree canopy will feature many acoustic acts, theatre and spoken word. There is a health and well being area including a wood fired hot tub and many types of natural treatment as well as a fully working hair salon and special effects make up studio. There will be a number of separate talks and music too. Tucked on the edge of the health and well being area, you will find, in the old octagonal well house, an onsite art gallery, displaying and selling a selection of local artists work and is the meeting place for the watercolour painting classes! Scattered around the main field in the grove of trees you will find lots of stalls, the and the Pop Up Marquee which will be home to many different workshops and impromptu performances. Built from the designs of James Wyatt, esq. and completed under his direction in 1794, its form is that of a Grecian temple of the peripteral kind; the colonnade consists of twelve fluted doric columns, which stand upon a rusticated basement about fifty-two feet diameter, these support a bold entablature, the frize of which is highly enriched with festoons of roses, sun-flowers and poppies.This walk also takes in the woodland, temples and hermitage and includes a packed lunch.
