Introduction

This guide describes the changes made in EFI Pace version 28.01. The first part of the guide describes the new feature and enhancement updates to the EFI Pace system, while the second part of the guide lists the defects repaired in version 28.01.

Before you upgrade your EFI Pace system to version 28.01, read the descriptions of the changes made to all the modules that you plan to use. Also read about the minimum system requirements and review any changes with other system users, as applicable. If you have any questions about how the changes may affect you or about changes that you must make to your system before you upgrade your system, please contact your EFI Pace Support representative.

Version 28.01 Enhancements

This section summarizes the system enhancement updates in EFI Pace version 28.01 by module, including the corresponding issue number. Refer to the “Version 28.01 Fixed Defects” topic for detailed descriptions of all defects repaired in this version of EFI Pace.

Framework [PACE-23080] 28.01-189 EFI Pace now supports i-net Clear Reports Designer version 15.1. All older versions of i-net Clear Reports Designer have been removed permanently from EFI Pace and are no longer supported, including versions 10.0, 11.2, 12.1 and 13.0.

Complete Offering [PACE-11002] 28.01-160 You can now enter up to 60 characters in Contact address fields, similar to the maximum length of Job Shipment address lines.

API [PACE-29783] 28.01-589 The API now supports Czech encoded characters.

Accounts Receivable [PACE-22959] 28.01-431 You can now add receivables for payments from a grid that is easier to see and displays which receivables were selected already.

[PACE-25530] 28.01-278 You can now use custom fields, rather than only customer.id, ioid, ioid1 and exportid, to identify the customer using the Datev Entry Batch Importer.

[PACE-24095] 28.01-165 You can now change the status of a customer to another status, and the system maintains the customer's active or inactive state and the active status of all associated contacts.

Customization Toolkit [PACE-28061] 28.01-303 You can now select any object within the Object Model Browser for tagging purposes and to use the tag settings.

[PACE-8869] 28.01-114 The Object Model Browser now displays non-persisted fields.

Estimating [PACE-27481] 28.01-472 You can now add a blank estimate part the same way as you add any estimate part or estimate.

[PACE-21495] 28.01-447 You can now duplicate a job and the corresponding estimate (e.g., as a basis for repeat jobs) from the Job Duplicate page.

[PACE-26092] 28.01-437 The Size Allowances grid on an estimate now displays calculated allowances only if values are actually calculated. Otherwise, only the Input columns appear.

[PACE-24622] 28.01-436 The system now validates the inks on an estimate part if you change the press and edit the estimate inks.

[PACE-27532] 28.01-433 You can now filter estimate papers based on tags.

[PACE-27264] 28.01-369 You can now always drill into the questions of a questionnaire-based product, regardless of the questionnaire status.

[PACE-27994] 28.01-322 The Shipping Operation Add page includes a new Prompt Option check box that, when selected, launches a Shipping Operation Detail pop-up page when you add a shipping operation to an estimate via the shipping workflow for each finishing operation that has the Review Prompt check box selected.


[PACE-28312] 28.01-321 On the Questionnaire Type Detail page, EFI Pace now displays the question description used when asking the topic question instead of the generic question description.

[PACE-27782] 28.01-319 You can now add and select preset workflows (Prepress, Printer Event, Finishing, and Shipping), on the Estimate Request Detail and Estimate Detail pages, which streamlines the order process and reduces the number of clicks needed to obtain all component information. Within the Estimating module, all workflows now appear under the Part-Workflow tab on the Estimate Detail page.

[PACE-28069] 28.01-316 The Topic Question Detail page now includes a Back to Topic button.

[PACE-25078] 28.01-309 You can now duplicate estimate request products and estimate request parts.


[PACE-27718] 28.01-301 The Estimate Request List page was reformatted to include useful data for day-to-day activities, to improve efficiency in managing work.

[PACE-27720] 28.01-265 The User Interface for the Estimate Request Product Selection now displays only valid options associated with the estimate category.

[PACE-27738] 28.01-260 You can now create versions of an estimate request. Estimate request versions always map to estimates with the same version number.

[PACE-27484] 28.01-212 The system automatically increments the estimate request number and marks it as read-only when you add a new estimate request, and the cursor initially appears in the Description field for the estimate request.

[PACE-27534] 28.01-188 For vehicle wrap estimate requests, you can now select paper types or inventory items as vehicle substrates.

[PACE-189] 26.01-156 When the system calculates an estimate with a folding part, if the number up on the press and the folder are the same, the system uses the press run size for the size to fold. If the estimate includes a cutting operation with a lower sequence for the estimate part, the system uses the flat size to calculate folding.

[PACE-17660] 28.01-155 Post print cutting operations now calculate units and quantity for estimate parts when the run size matches the flat size, and the part is running 1 up on the printer. Please note that this applies specifically to estimate parts that have a component type of Other set on the job product type.

[PACE-27468] 28.01-154 When you create an estimate with a composite product and that includes a user interface setup, the system sets the estimate product to the user interface set. For example, a composite product with a user interface type of Vehicle displays the Estimate Product page for vehicles.

[PACE-27146] 28.01-152 The Estimate Part Detail page now displays allowances and notes, as well as prepress operations, finishing operations and other child objects, if these where added through a questionnaire that was processed by an item template.

General Ledger [PACE-912] 28.01-381 You can access the new General Ledger Quarterly Income Statement report (quarterly-income-statement.rpt) from the General Ledger Reports menu. This report uses the GL Summary Name records that your system administrator sets up by navigating to Administration > System Setup > General Ledger > GL Summary Name, and summarizes journal entries by the GL Summary Name associated with those accounting periods.

For example, you may have accounting period 2016-01 associated to a GL Summary Name for Q1, and it may also be associated to a summary name for mid-year. Running the quarterly income statement for Q1 includes amounts from accounting period 2016-01 as well as any other periods associated to Q1 (normally periods 02 and 03). This report is compatible with both calendar and fiscal year models and is available to licensed users of the General Ledger module.


Inventory [PACE-13240] 28.01-217 The system now automatically populates the basis weight for inventory items from the paper weight, if selected. You can configure this by selecting the Set Basis Weight From Paper Weight check box on the Inventory Setup Detail page. This enhancement reduces the number of steps required to calculate the M weight automatically.

Job Control Center [PACE-27994] 28.01-322 When you add a shipping operation via a shipping workflow to a job, the system displays the Job Part Detail pop-up page until you review all required shipping operations and either update them or deselect the Review Prompt check box.

[PACE-20596] 28.01-245 The system now includes calculated makeready and spoilage data from estimate finishing operations on the resulting job finishing. This data appears on the job jacket (jobcontrol-jacket.rpt) if you enable it on the report setup.

[PACE-27099] 28.01-176 When you change the job admin status so that it is no longer configured as "Open," and the job includes a purchase order with a status that is not "Closed" or "Cancelled," the system displays a warning message that indicating, "This job is referencing an open purchase order. Please review the job and/or purchase order." Please note that the system displays the same message when you invoice a job with the same purchase order condition.


Job History [PACE-27379] 28.01-356 You can now choose whether the profit percentage is calculated by job cost (the default parameter) or by invoice amount in the report parameters for the Value Added reports (jobarchives-detail-value-added-by-customer.rpt, jobarchives-detail-value-added-by-jobtype.rpt, jobarchives-detail-value-added-by-sales-category.rpt, and jobarchives-detail-value-added-by-salesperson-by-customer.rpt). You can choose the option to calculate by invoice amount on the Report Parameters page when you access the report or set it as a default in the reports front end (Administration > System Setup > General > Report Settings > Reports).

Job Shipments [PACE-12934] 28.0-418 The Job Shipment List page now displays the Qty Ordered, Qty Planned, Qty Shipped or Qty Remaining.

You can also open a new PaceStation inquiry from the Job Shipment record to provide an overview about all shipments.

[PACE-24499] 28.01-374 The system now uses the default value for the Promise Date on the Job Shipment object in the Object Model Browser for additional shipments.

Tip: Add @promiseDate as an on-create XPath to default the shipment date from the Job.promiseDate.

Multiple Currency [PACE-17663] 28.01-477 The system now recalculate values for purchase order lines when you change the currency.

[PACE-23414] 28.01-308 On check reports where the check displays the name of the currency at the end of the text line for the check amount, the reports now display the name of the currency from the Description field of the Currency object.

The description of the currency defaults to an international standard that may contain text in addition to the currency name, but you can modify it by navigating to Administration > System Setup > General > Locale > Currency. Please note that this feature is available to licensed users of the Multi-Currency module.

PaceConnect-Digital StoreFront [PACE-27667] 28.01-238 When a job is created by a Digital StoreFront order, the shipping job note now includes the State field from the address.


Purchasing [PACE-21905] 28.01-347 If you enter or change the Date Required on the Auto-Create PO page, the system updates the job material and the purchase order line with the date.

[PACE-27106] 28.01-202 The system now automatically enters the name of the system user entering the purchase order in the Purchase Order Requester field. You can modify this default value as desired by navigating to Administration > System Configuration > Object Model > Object Model Browser.

Universal Importer [PACE-28154] 28.01-370 The system now displays an error message if you try to perform a lookup in an import template, which the application cannot perform due to parent, child relationships.

[PACE-24567] 28,01-319 The template configuration and usage pages are now separate. You can also set an active state, and when you edit a template, the system automatically deactivates it to enable the administrator to review changes before enabling the template for production use (which is performed via manual activation of the template). Template validation (or error checking) now occurs only when a template is active.


[PACE-26901] 28.01-227 XPath parameters for control elements and parameter elements are now at the template level, which enables you to reference one XPath parameter across multiple control elements and multiple parameters elements.

Database Changes

You should run the Version Compare Tool in the EFI Pace Admin Console before you upgrade your EFI Pace system. This tool enables you to view all the changes made to the database in EFI Pace version 28.01 since your last upgrade. Because these changes may affect custom jobs or reports in your system, you should check and modify any customizations as necessary to match the new database schema.

To compare versions of EFI Pace, do all of the following:

1 Navigate to the Backup/Upgrade section of the EFI Pace Admin Console main page and click Version Comparison Tool.

Tip: Refer to the Admin Console guide in the EFI Pace Online Help system for information on how to log into the EFI Pace Admin Console and additional details.

The Version Compare Tool page appears.

2 Do all of the following:

In the Old Version field, select your current version of EFI Pace.

In the New Version field, select the version of EFI Pace to which you want to upgrade.

Click Show Differences.

The Version Compare Tool page refreshes, with a list of statistics and differences between the two version of EFI Pace that you selected, including new, modified, and removed fields and objects.
